It seem like yesterday it was the end of the world as we know it. Trips to Florida cancelled, the horrible virus was out of control and spreading. Pregnant women fleeing to colder climates in hopes of protecting their unborn children. Evil, deplorable, Republicans where stopping our great leader from throwing money at research. Good shovel ready research to cure this modern day plague. Well, what happened!!

I'm visiting Florida, and it's still in the News. Everyday.

Do a search for 'zika' at The Bump Forums if you have doubts that zika is still a concern for Pregnant/Trying to Conceive women.

I'm in Florida, and it's still a daily news issue. All the theme parks (and other public places) are giving out free mosquito repellent to help prevent infection.

So since you are not aware of what is being said it must not be?

Makes sense.

Zika is just more doom porn like west Nile or swine flu.

the craze is letting off because Bill Gates and his other proponents for depopulation and population control are back to the drawing board to find a more inconspicuous and slower progressing and more complex virus to bestow to emerging or 3rd world countries. One less likely to be treatable or cure-able and more likely to evolve over time instead of remaining stagnant.

Don't worry about the apocalypse, it's here, and we're living it at this very moment in time. All apocalypse means is "Uncovering" or disclosure of knowledge, which I'm pretty sure that has been happening quite a bit lately. No need to worry...... en.wikipedia.org...

Really? Google and Revelations both cite it as "the complete final destruction of the world."

did you read my link? That other stuff is new age babble to scare the young, and uninformed.

But, I suppose, the complete final destruction of the world would be a disclosure of knowledge for us to a point?

The rest of the country is starting to cool off as it moves in to fall and winter and that is notoriously bad for the health of mosquitos, the primary vector of the disease.

Also, for all that the hype train got underway and tried to scare us, zika is a terribly underwhelming thing. It barely makes most people feel bad.

More specifically, the Olympics have finished, so the Rio authorities don't need to dump so many chemicals into the water then blame the resulting birth defects on Zika.

Edited to add:

Telegraph article

Some experts have raised questions over what is behind the Brazilian spike in microcephaly, particularly due to the absence of a similar surge in cases in other areas hit by the virus. Others have also suggested that it has been grossly over-reported in Brazil. The country has registered a total of 3,852 suspected cases, but of the roughly 1,200 investigated so far, just 462 have been confirmed. Evidence of Zika infection was found in just 41 of the affected babies.

No my friend, it was headline news in the north east. Now we hear nothing about it, I guess we're to busy with the terrorist up here. Makes sense.a reply to: Sremmos80

Zika has run its course just like any other "epidemic" the USA faces. I'm not sure whether the epidemics we've been seeing on the news lately (Zika, Ebola, Swine Flu etc.) are really epidemics that need to be addressed and covered or if they are just clever ploys fed to us by the media to cover up something else going on that they want us to not pay any attention to. Regardless, I live in Florida and I still hear about Zika on the news, it's not a headline story anymore but we get the regular updates.

UN agency lifts Zika emergency, prepares for long-term fight

They have accepted its presence, and committing to a long term battle. Still not apocalypse though. I think we should be more worried about antibiotic resistance bacteria than Zika.
