It's not like it was a boys team versus a girls team it was a team with a couple of girls on it. If concerns of political correctness and bad publicity was there main concern, refusing to play a team because they had a couple of girls on it probably wasn't the best idea.

There is a physical aspect to it. You are allowed to muscle someone off the ball with your shoulder or body or keep them from getting to it and other things.

There is a physical aspect to women's soccer as well.
