Giving stars and flags is an expression of agreement, acknowledgement.

Limiting that would be an infringement of individual freedom.

ATS isn't government, they can do this.

But I would guess ATS leans more towards freedom than oppression.

Going back to user-generated content. Stars and flags give a bit of an incentive I suppose. It keeps the site going.

You know, if they gave stars instead of cookies every time I made a complaint or alert, I'd do it a lot more!

But since it's only cookies, I just stay away from those.

Think of every trendy gaming app that limits its features until you spend some cash. It's a scam.

I would drop from ATS in 1-2 seconds flat if a donation system that determined viewable posts ever came into effect.

I do forget at times ATS is a small self-regulated community, but sometimes so do the members.

So, why do we care about these flags and stars?

We do, if we didn't, my thread would have zero replies. But we do, we are human, and we care about stuff.

So I care a bit about ATS.

Intellectual, OMG that's a bad word. I like to converse and debate with intelligent people, is that so bad?

Many times (as phage has proven) I'll sound only half as smart as I think I am, and realize it right then. on the other side there are people who spout off ridiculous nonsense (yes I get the irony right now) and come back for more.

ehh nevermind. I had a good conversation for this but now I don't.

I don't care about stars or flags. Alot of the stuff u say many wouldn't agree with. I say it because that is the point of this site. Sometimes I change some minds, sometimes someone changes mine. It's a beautiful thing recognizing someone can make you more intelligent.

1 flag 1 star per day to start. Over time this would be increased.

I never recommended removing posting rights, that would obviously exist, just how many things you can "agree" with.
