I am not saying God is a marketing tool like Coca-Cola's Santa Claus, but what if someone did create God back in the day to sell thier wares, snakeoil, or tonic/elixer and someone took it litterally or came up with the bright idea to write a book on it for whatever the reason may be good or bad thus, we have the bible today? I mean, I can see it happening lol!

they did... there have been over 30 Christs who've been crucified and born of a Virgin. Zoroastrianism comes to mind.

Your thread is accurate in it's decisive perception. ... in other words YES it's all a big fat lie!

Something similar to your idea has been passed around before. I apologize in advance because I don't remember his name, nor did I ever get a chance to read his report, but a couple years back there was a "biblical scholar" who claimed he had proof that jesus and god were completely made up by the Romans as a way to keep the masses in check. Supposedly if they had some sort of hope to believe and focus on, it helped keep them calmer during very bad times.

I remember hearing one winter that he would come out and report on his findings, but I never saw them. I don't know if he fell through with it, or if I just wasn't able to find it.

Yeah I saw the capes too! Perhaps that's part of where the coca cola company got the the idea for old and fat jolly Santa.

Emphasis my own.

I don't know i the romans had anything to do with it- my history isn't that great... But I've always known that it's just made up.
Could very well have been a collection of stories passed from parents to children for generations, and then when writing became a thing it was condensed into a story book, then later worked into an epic saga...

Either way, it's the old new world order. Give the masses hope that things will get better, and fear of doing wrong.

Skycake!

I believe they combined the two, declaring the 25th of December Jesus' birthday, the same day as the roman sun god holiday or some such. They did this to appease both sides, making Christianity and Roman sun god worship more legitimate and unified so there would be less tension.

Someone elsa can better bring the history of that, I'm not as clear as I could be on it.

And what about those millions of people who have experenced life after death, (NDE), or reincarnation, or actually met a spirit (dark or light)? I don't know maybe a billion or so of people?

How do you plan of convincing them that God is nothing more than a myth?
