NEW YORK CITY — An explosion that injured more than 20 people in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood was an "intentional act" but there was no indication the blast was linked to terrorism, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

"Tonight, New York City experienced a very serious incident," the mayor told reporters at a late Saturday press conference.

"There is no evidence at this point of a terror connection," de Blasio said, citing preliminary information.

Investigators also did not believe the New York City explosion was linked to a pipe-bomb style blast in Seaside Park on Saturday, the mayor added.

Maybe you are unaware that the words "international" and "intentional" aren't the same words.

I woke up here in UK, seen the news,Searched and nothing came up. So I posted.

Is there really any need to be so sarcastic? Just trying to help!

I agree Yo_da84, slight missteps by newer members are often attacked fiercely with sarcasm, contempt and derision. This is supposed to be a forum about sharing information and enlightening one another. Last time I checked the ATS motto/mission statement was 'Deny Ignorance', I don't think overreaction of this kind furthers that goal. I know it's off topic but I think it's uncalled for.

Fix the damn title already. This whole thread is hard on the eyes, before even getting to the ugly issue.

An "intentional act" As opposed to what, A god damn accident??

Of course it was intentional, The media and governments play on words is ridiculous, This is an act of terrorism and theres no two ways about it. These people think we're retarded.

First they drop "islamic" and now they want to drop "terrorism" and todays buzz word is "intentional"

OK guys lets all "power on through" this latest "intentional act of islamic terrorism" ...

Who thinks up all this crap??

It's an intentional act? Thanks for the clarity. I was confused. I thought someone had accidentally built and planted bombs around NYC. Spontaneous sleep bomb creation and planting is just so common you just never know.

I read this on FB out loud to my husband sitting next to me
I saw "International" the first time I read it.....I said what the hell is international act?
I re -read it and it said intentional.... trick of the eye maybe? So strange.

perhaps the act was meant to be Instructional instead of intentional or international

an international bombimg would have been done by a foreign State on the NYC area mentionel

Another false flag to rattle everybody.

Has the suspect been killed in a dramatic shootout with police yet?

Regardless these petulant arguments on vocabulary, we have the issue of one supposed/likely bomb exploding and causing harm and injuries, and a second bomb found close by. Perhaps the second bomb which was said to be found intact will provide clues or some direction to look, or perhaps cameras might have caught the placements of these bombs.

Our good old days are gone, only a memory. The world is a far uglier place than a decade or two ago. These incidents are not just random events, there is method behind this madness, and so far it has been primarily as attacks by middle east parties. While your busy chastising vocabulary, your enemies are preparing more and more dread with which to attack the US and it's interests and people.

It would behoove us to be vigilant and not let our guard down, and continue seeking out these terrorists wherever they might hide.

Oh I agree, but consider this, that we can sit here and chastise vocabulary sends in itself a pretty clear message that they aren't quite spreading the boot shaking teeth rattling fear they are hoping to.

Would you rather we overreact, piss ourselves and cry at the feet of the government begging them to strip us of our rights to keep us safe in a paranoid panic?

Be vigilant yes, but never, not for a second let them think they can scare us into bending to their will or desires. So yes, let's keep our eyes open, but let's not lose our morale and good humor doing it, as nothing is a greater spit in the face to their efforts than letting them know, they're not bringing us down.

It also sends the message that division can be achieved by simple words. Look at the division right here, right now with this.

I agree overactive drama helps in no way, and is also part of their method.

I seriously don't think America will bend to anyone's will, we are not wired that way. Our spirit is stronger than that..... yours, mine and all the OP participants here, the man/woman on the street......and America. I am a war Vet, I'm no different than millions that came before me, but I have a keen interest in our sovereignty and freedom.
Again were driving off course from the real incident and how we will address it.

We're divided? I thought we were casually discussing this. At no point did I think you or I would hesitate to stand back to back against a terrorist threat where we to face it together. If this is their idea of division, then I'm all chuckles.

OK Puppylove, let us move forward then. We have no real issue, perhaps a lack of caffeine, or perhaps a little too much..

I would like to see how this will play out, it seems a missed opportunity for the terrorists, in that they will now double down to make the next attack effective. We got hit, yes it was only glancing, but we know the outcome we received in Boston. How will we address this attack ? Will our President do anything beyond a bit of mild mouth-boogie.....?

I'm sorry....are you suggesting that previous to this article, law enforcement somehow believed that an explosive device being detonated was not intentional? What...all this time they thought it was just accidentally placed and detonated? What are you saying here?

Pathetic post content aside, this is not anything we did not already know. Bombs are not typically set off by accident. They're always intentional.
