I'm celebrating my birthday this evening with a trip to the local Mexican Food restaurant and I'm definitely getting some of their guac!

Some restaurants have great deals on guac today.

Avocadon't forget: Friday is National Guacamole Day. And yes, it might be another made-up food holiday, but restaurants celebrate it with real discounts on the side dish.

Every year, Americans eat about 4.25 billion pounds of avocados, according to Fine Dining Lovers. Friday is just your latest excuse to indulge. Think about how great it would feel to round out your week with some creamy, spicy guacamole paired with salty tortilla chips and a frozen margarita. Delicioso.

Happy Birthday!!

I love me some guac! But then, I could eat my weight in avocados - if it didn't lead to my weight going up 300 lbs.

I was making smoked pork burritos tonight. Now I'll add guacamole and chips as an opener. Going shopping for avocados.
Picking the pepper and tomatoes from the garden.
Taco trucks on every corner doesn't sound bad to me. Yum...
And later...It's tequila and karaoke . Great nights start with guacamole!

Fantastic. Now if I can only get over my heartburn as it seems that yesterday was national 'cheesebread' day.

Baking soda in water. And it makes you burp loud too so there's a bonus.

I love avocados but have never been a huge fan of quac. I don't care for it being spiced up to much.

Happy birthday by the way..

Nothing better than guac, but I like to make my own. Simple. Mashed avocados, crushed garlic (lots), salt to taste. If you want some spice throw in some diced serrano. Not a big fan of adding in the citrus juice, so eat it quick!

You can also add some diced red onion and cilantro if you must.

Yes to lots of garlic and yes to cilantro.

Side note: Does anyone else eat avocado and cream cheese sandwiches?

Lived in Fallbrook CA for two years which is advacado growing capital of the world.
Del Rio is the huge distributor in town.

Eat at Las Brisas mex restaurant one a week...most popular restaurant in town.

The quac had a little Spanish onion, cilantro, and lime juice...very authentic recepie.
No spice at all.

Growing up in L.A.

We had a huge avocado tree in our back yard, My mom was an Avocado nut. We had it almost everyday growing up. I got so sick of them. When I moved out I swore them off and kept that up for almost 20 years. Then one day I had a craving. Been eating them almost everyday in one form or another ever since.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

Sounds like a delicious plan! I prefer homemade, too, so I think I'll buy some avocados and make it for tonight, too. We always carry out anyway.

Me, too! So, you're a garlic lover, too? LOL! We belong to the "no such thing as too much garlic" club! I love lime juice in everything, though!

Oh, I like lime juice, but I just like the buttery taste of the avocado that much more. I feel like the citrus taste gets in the way of the avocado in my guac so I prefer to leave it out.
