The US needs to get onboard the nuclear train. Everyone is scared because of Fukushima, but what they don't consider is that Fukushima (and all previous nuclear disasters) were 2nd generation plants, we're currently on 4th gen which have way more safety features. The more we invest in it, the more we can improve the technology and make it even safer too.

If I were the president, this is what I would do for energy generation:
1. Ban fracking (alternatively, reduce it with a lessened amount of item 2)
2. Restore offshore drilling
3. Massive geothermal expansion
4. Remove solar/wind subsidies, give them to geothermal
5. Reduce/eventually eliminate coal
6. Largely expand nuclear

This gets us way more energy, at a slightly cheaper kwh generation than now, and with virtually no pollution.
