White nationalist movement growing much faster than Isis on Twitter

The number of white nationalists and self-identified Nazi sympathisers on Twitter have multiplied more than 600 per cent in the last four years, outperforming the so-called Islamic State (Isis) in everything from follower counts to number of daily tweets, a new study found.

Researchers at George Washington University’s Programme on Extremism analysed 18 accounts belonging to major white nationalist groups and organisations – such as the American Nazi Party and the National Socialist Movement – mostly located in the US.

All this hype over 22,000?

The uptick total new sitewide Twitter accounts between that period compared to that figure would be interesting data here (edit: it doubled).

They don't mention BLM or SJW's. There's only MILLIONS of them.

Cheap co-ordination think: flash mobs as well as a propaganda platform... Twitter has been dedicated to deleting such connected accounts as policy for several months now extremism is a continual struggle for many social platform sites.

I don't see the problem, there is no problem from a black or Hispanic nationalist movement, so until they actually pose a public danger, who cares?

It's a result of liberals calling everything that moves racist, it turns people against them. It demonizes white people for having views that don't align and that forms these groups who hate being belittled and they are formed in their eyes(confused) to protect white rights and the future of the white race which is being belittled daily.

Until the double standards stop, calling everyone bigots and racist stop, expect the movement to multiply.

Sure if you had them all together in one spot. Spread out from sea to shining sea amongst over 315,000,000 people that figure as something to get worried or outraged about is absurd. Every major city surely has at least that many BLM activists alone. Meanwhile, that number rose right along side the rise of SJW mania (predictable backlash):

All life matters whether anyone wants to agree with that statement or not when ideology removes equality it becomes a barrier and problem in society sadly it already is a problem in society all over the world extremisim of any kind.

Raising awareness of such things being right on your own door step that is co-ordinated in groups removes ignorance... no different than oh I didn't know we had a Japanese resturant 3 blocks away except this is oh I didn't know we had an extremist group meeting 3 blocks away.

Problem with people being aware in their communities so folks like this can't hide? So you might know where to avoid so you or your family does not get shot or killed...

Yeah no use to people what so ever... researching this made it useful to me as I have two of these organisations in my city, I am sure others will find that knowledge just as useful.

If such a thing bothers you or anyone else from another country; and such information is not available such as the maps; then hey there's a need fill it give back to the people that make up your community and develop a site to inform and raise awareness...

Giving back to one's community is more rewarding than anyone could ever realize... it isn't an easy thing people will fight you tooth and nail evidenced by the many detractions in such a small amount of time this has been posted, but it's the right thing.

That's the problem with the black market, it fuels all of this under belly of crime, from human trafficking to extortion and that's exactly how many of these such groups and others are constantly funded to keep our communities in chaos instead of working together.

Most of this racial crap is about controlling turf for criminal activities, many of these groups and gangs form from prisons all across the globe...

If we want to really solve these problems it needs to be done not only politically but socially too, not roll over and pretend it doesnt exist... there are solutions but being a head on the hydra doesn't cut such things off, or promote anything better.

But yeah the global black market battles progress, even stops laws beneficial like cannabis legalisation efforts... just to stay in power, we can move forward by other models that work in society where none of this is hidden but districted and legitimate like many countries already do. But it's excuse after excuse instead of solution after solution...

Surprised meaning your awareness was raised not as many as you had assumed but didn't know about just like a dream I know they are out there but in theory not reality now in reality you know and are no longer speculating (not all of them have twitter accounts btw)
