Yes, there is.

And sadly enough, I am cursed with THS (Tree Hugger Syndrome). I was raised to be environmentally very conscientious and as unintrusive or abusive to our environment as possible.

I am repulsed by floating plastic-bottle-islands. And I am gobsmacked that people don't seem to think it's a big deal.

THEY DON'T THINK THINGS THROUGH.

So - yes.
I understand that there has to be a transition period. But, we must focus on a long-term goal of making OBSOLETE all "fossil-fuel extraction methods" that turn out to cause toxic, dead, unsafe, unsteady surface conditions --- we have to LIVE WITH THE RESULTS.

If "fracking" is causing earthquakes, or mining is causing mesothelioma, or Flint's public water is poisoning its residents with lead -------

and WE KNOW ABOUT IT --- then we need to damn well right now cease and desist.

Small earthquake are not among the greater problems involved with the consumption of fossil fuels.

You mean that hoax map? The one that actually had no connection to the US (or any other) Navy?

Phage, I am honored to be having a convo with you. I have very strong feelings and fairly deep knowledge about the 'energy' industry.
Multiple family members who are professionals in the field. However, I must log off for now. Hopefully we can continue this at a later time. Tomorrow I will be entirely preoccupied, but will be thinking about the topic.

I think about it quite a lot. Among other things, of course.

The ways in which our civilization manages to maintain itself are problematic at number of levels.

Take it easy where you are now.

Good luck in the future - New Orleans might not be the best place to be in the long term, but I hope it treats you well. I don't reckon you'll have quakes to deal with (unless the New Madrid pops off again), but flooding is an ever-present threat.

Higher than it looks, sadly.

In other news, the earthquake strength was revised - USGS has now pegged the 9/3/2016 quake as a magnitude 5.8 - making it the strongest recorded quake on record in Oklahoma.

Here's my estimation of the difference between the two values:
M5.6

M5.8

It's not aligned perfectly, since I took these snapshots on different dates (before/after revision). Outermost ring is M0-1, unlikely to feel it unless in a tall building. Second is M1-2, more likely to feel but generally still need to be in a taller structure. First colored ring is M2-3, where one could feel it but may not. It's a pretty broad estimation, but I don't buy some of the dramatically further felt reports like in Maryland.

Hi, I tried to open a topic about an

Massive Earthquake Along the San Andreas Fault Is Disturbingly Imminent
news that I read last week but somehow couldn't, so I'm posting here . I'm sorry for invading your topic like this, but it may even be corelated. Or if it's not, at least it's the best I can do hoping it will be useful for the population of the corresponding California and surroundings area.
The curious thing is that such an important information seems to be being treated as if it was nothing.

I might be overreacting, overworried, or even giving too much importance to something that might be not as threatening as it sounds, but I'll live you to judge it, according to your own common sense or knowledge. So here are the links:

If this is not pertinent or a reason for preocupation, please accept my apologies.
Thank you for your patience here.

I believe they ( whoever they are) have given until Tuesday for the "warning" but this area has swarms from time to time.

California should always have a preparedness for an emergency such as an EQ.

I do believe however it's a little odd the swarm just stopped. Maybe the calm before the storm.. no one can predict an EQ so it's hard to say.
