I think it's great if this guy can help hold crooked judges and cops accountable for being complicit in drug trafficking, and think it's great that he's willing to stand up to the UN, but to advocate killing of addicts like that? Sounds like a Stalin or Mussolini move.

Yeah.

BTW: you are a drugdealer, therefore you are outlawed and everybody may kill you without negative ramifications.

Oh, you are not a drugdealer? Well, too bad. I say you are and now it is allowed for evey citizen to effect the law (or the lack of it, really!).

Mob law is a very, very difficult thing..

No, his way is the extreme of "selfjustice" and as long as this gets positive replies on any board I know that there are special people with special ways of thinking. See: Hitlerjugend, SS, etc.

This guy has a 91% approval rating in his country.. The Philippines was really bad before he came along.
And it's not just a war against drugs it is also a war against the corruption and filth that a rife within this nation.
Before this the criminals were just paying off the cops.. If he can clean this dirty nation then so be it.

Just want to say though, don't agree with the murder and feel everyone is entitled to a fair trial..

Let me be clear, people are being effectively murdered by the state with no arrest, no trial - and you are ok with that - yes or no?

Does that make any sense? What killing machine? The one he has sanctioned for death without arrest or trial of people who may or may not (innocent until proven guilty) have committed a crime?

Oh, I don't like his policy of killing every small time drug dealer, I think that's just insane. But I like his style.
And yeah, Chicago could use someone kinda like this.

I can't stand people from the first world
lecturing people living in third world how to behave.
Choose a narrative, either democracy is the greatest
thing ever and his being elected is the expression of a dire
state of affairs in the country,

Or the west needs to be a patriarchy that imposes it's ideals
on 'lesser thinking' nations and tell them how to behave. Pick a
narrative, have you ever considered erudite opinions
are a luxury of not living in a really scary place?

No offense folks but did any of you even click the first thread link OP posted?

Here is a refresher from that thread - the president encourages citizens to kill drug addicts

“If you know of any addicts, go ahead and kill them yourself as getting their parents to do it would be too painful.”

Original Source

And yet many folks here are saying he is a good man and exactly what the world needs right now. Just saying.

These are the messages he sends because he knows law-abiding citizens will not tolerate filth in their area, every time he makes an announcement or kills some filth he is sending a clear message - kill one, scare a thousand.

except this time, it's the criminal filth that's scared. This is part of the Philippine culture of loss-of-face - they are a very proud and humble people so weeding out the filth is actually proving quite easy for him.

But, you go right ahead feeling superior and calling me a Nazi.

I get the feeling you've never seen a crack addicted baby or the results of a woman doing drugs while pregnant.
Yeah..let's all feel sorry for the the crack whore.

I'm not at all familiar with the culture or major issues in this country so thanks for taking the time to explain this to me. Sounds like a good percentage of the population could use a good kick in the ass and stop running around like destructive thugs and violators

You should really go for more than shock value and actually try to understand the problem. Look up the statistic. Their problem is meth. In many nations meth is prescribed to children under the age of 13 and labeled as Desoxyn and you'd probably be fine with this. Think before posting.

Let's pray those who turn themselves in actually just go to jail or rehab; let's pray, 10-20 years from now we don't find mass graves littering the Philippines.

First of all.... let me try to sound "rational" when writing this... to not sound like a crazy person

- What he is doing is great. We have for too long as humans tried to be "humanistic" in the sense that we can save everyone or reform everyone. We cannot... and hardline criminals and drug dealers, should indeed forfeit their lives without trial. I see no issue with this what so ever. Gang members like those of mafia, hell angels, bandidos etc etc, should be rounded up and executed the same day. I truly wish we had laws that would allow this.

- BUT, we also have to draw a hard line between what is drug dealing of hard drugs and what is dealing with soft drugs like cannabis. This could easily be done by simply making soft drugs legal under state care.

- The UN is a tool, unfortunately it is a tool that can easily be manipulated, just like Nato. I am member of a western UN country and I really don't like what they are doing. They seem like mindless puppets with lots of words and no real results. And don't give me bull# about jugoslavia or any other westernly instigated war.
So how can you blame him for saying as he does? He's right...

Now to top it off... the law would be perfect if the same amount of punishment was alloted to those who commit serious economic crimes.

Mixed feeling on this.

He not exactly a nice guy.

But when mayor he turned one of the most crime ridden cesspits in the south pacific and turned it into a safe growing city.

He wants to get the Philipines out the third world and the only think keeping it there is crime and corruption.
