Britain’s top human rights lawyer who represented Julian Assange and worked alongside George Clooney’s wife Amal dies in apparent suicide.

ONE of Britain’s top human rights lawyers who represented Julian Assange and war criminals has died in an apparent suicide.

Married dad of two John Jones QC, 48, who worked alongside Hollywood actor George Clooney’s wife Amal, passed away on Monday.

He acted for Wikileaks founder Assange, 44, holed-up for four years in the Ecuador Embassy in London, when the Swedish government initially tried to extradite him for questioning on rape charges.

He specialised in extradition, war crimes and counter-terrorism, taking cases from the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Lebanon and Cambodia.

I did a search and didnt find any mention of it on ATS.

Strange set of circumstances to say the least.

After meeting with a doctor, Mr. Jones was apparently diagnosed as being bipolar which his wife found odd since he wasnt prone to mood swings.

On the advice of his doctor, he began to take anti-depression medication which led to him eventually checking himself into a mental hospital where he primarily stayed in solitary confinement.

Despite a lack of sleep and being malnourished, he was allowed to go for an early morning stroll which was when he committed his apparent suicide.

Looks as though he was involved in some very high profile cases.

According to our laws, every person has a right to due process. It doesnt matter if youre accused of jay walking or terrorism.

But not everyone agrees. Some people seem to think that an accusation by government is enough "proof" to strip someone of their rights.

Under Bush: Officials: American al-Qaeda can be targeted and killed.

Under Obama: Kill List Exposed: Leaked Obama Memo Shows Assassination of U.S. Citizens "Has No Geographic Limit".

Its people like Mr. Jones who helped to guarantee our rights.

RIP.

Things are definitely getting strange in today's world. Very well could be as it says, a suicide, but you never know.

Anti-depressants are a serial killer in pill form.

I was told to take them before and it made me more suicidal that I was initially.

I threw them straight in the bin and I haven't had those thoughts since.

RIP.

"Apparent suicide"...

Doublespeak for "murdered as a warning to Assange as he prepares to release more damaging info on HRC".

Another one bites the dust.

They wanted him dead so they got to the "doctor".

Another "suicide" story.

Sure.

This is HIGHLY suspicious. I expect we will eventually see an unravelling of the circumstances which expose a likely murder, disguised as a suicide.

A warning from the power elite to anyone who would take the side of persons who are committed to exposing the darkness & corruption within that self-same power elite & their systems of control. We here on ATS might well be the ones who actually unveil this tragedy.

The use of medications, solitary confinement, and a lack of supervision despite his condition, could well suggest that he was targeted, broken down, and then taken out - their preparation will have provided 'evidence' of his apparent mental breakdown - the suicide can then be 'explained'.

And the pharmacist, how does anyone know what they gave him. Could have been acid or some other psychotropic. Sound altogether weird and too well timed. You know, successful guy, wife, kids, money, established career, etc. No, i highly doubt it was a suicide, maybe assisted suicide ala Clinton.

Cheers - Dave

What was his original reason for visiting a doctor?

Depression? The article doesn’t say

Does one go to a hospital and go into solitary confinement for depression?

Not enough information here to draw any conclusions...provocative indeed but not enough info

Assange may have something to say

A person can check themselves into a psychiatric hospital if they feel the need , as a high profile lawyer he would have the means to do that.

Assange may have something to say

The story is from April this year , I think it's a sad thing not a conspiracy.

Perhaps he was hiding out in the mental hospital thinking he'd be safe?

MURDERED, as a warning to other's not to mess with the most powerful international mafia to ever exist and in case He had come into contact with some knowledge that they did not want Him to have.

They call it damage limitation but the rest of the world will simply see assassination and murder of a civilian by a group intent on circumventing the laws of the first world country's and with no respect for the law's of any other nation's.

Good questions.

I actually got some of the info from another article.

He was diagnosed with "too much thinking" or something just as ridiculous.

His wife said that he was depressed and that he felt like a failure but apparently this didnt begin until after he began his meds.

They didnt use the words "solitary confinement". Instead they said that he spent much of his time "secluded in a room".

Definitely a lot of unknowns and oddities with this story.

Yes, stay away from them at all costs.

I lost a good friend who jumped off the Golden Gate to his death due to anti-depressants.

Always found it odd depressed people will take pills which make you more depressed and suicidal.

It's a terrible thing when anyone dies.

It is truly disturbing though that the first thing I thought of, was Hillary ordered another hit.

Likely, unfortunately, the poor guy was depressed and ended his life. May he rest in peace and may his family get resolution.

But if it is some hanky panky we can speculate why

What would be the motive behind killing Assages lawyer?

Obviously to frighten him to death and warning him to keep certain files hidden

He’s dealing with some ruthless people.

These people do serious business. Assange better watch his back

wasn't Assange suppose to release a new batch of bilary's emails, did he ever do that?
look's like his lawyer might have caught clintonitis, or clinton syndrome.
