does anyone think that Trump would have done this if he wasn't running for president? and if he has, please show the evidence.

Do you think he would have done it if he wasn't a billionaire?

Do you think he would have done it if he died in 1984?

Do you think he would have done it if he was a woperson?

Seriously, do you read your own posts?

Do you have any links of him being this altruistic before running for President?

One day Trump was stuck on the side of a highway with a flat tire in the limo. Someone noticed and stopped and changed the tire. Trump asked if there was anything he could do for him and the guy said no, and went on his merry way. A week later he got a notice from the bank that his mortgage had been paid off.

Donald Trump's long-time (20+ years) personal butler says that the entire Trump family is generous beyond belief. They give money to many causes anonymously, to avoid the attention. The family is actually very humble.

Kind of reminds me of what one of Jesus's friends wrote.. That Jesus performed tons of miracles which the public never knew about.

Nope, have no links. Just happen to know people connected to both organizations (St. Jude's and Make a Wish) and remember when he made big donations to both organizations. If you're really interested, Google is your friend.

I keep hearing that....but no it's not. I'm asking for links ( again, and again).....ya know, to help promote your candidate, one normally provides sources to help substantiate claims on said candidate.

AGAIN!!!!!!!

Provide your links that pre-date Trumps Presidential Race that are ALTRUISTIC !!!!

Just links folks.....simple links.

Hey StallionDuck: I'm a Louisiana resident, as well. No disrespect to your POV, but rather than see this as a Trump vs. Hillary issue, my take on it, currently, is what can you get together in your house, despite your own circumstances, to give?

My daughter and I collected a couple gallons of water, power bars, Poweraid, cleaning supplies we weren't using, and some old cell phones so those folks in shelter being told to contact FEMA with no way to do so, could actually do it.
By the way, if anyone has unused, old computers, there is a comp place uptown that will rehab them for use for people in shelters, to do exactly what I just described, contact FEMA, and their families, and wherever else they might get some help.

Let's face it: we've been here before, via Katrina. Anyone who went through that, all respect to the thread writer, but we could have risen hell against Bush/Cheney at the time, it wouldn't have really helped anyone. I understand there is a bigger picture, but maybe now is the time to use this forum to tell folks what people need in the areas that are flooded: like lots of baby supplies: baby food, diapers, lightly used or new baby clothes, formula.....just repeating what I've been told by folks in that zone what they are lacking....

Stay strong, everyone. IMHO, whatever political figure is closer to having it right, is purely a distraction, plain and simple.
regards,
tetra50

Perhaps it's your reading comprehension that is preventing you from effectively using Google. So I will repeat:

I'm certainly not a Trump supporter but I do know that he (personally, not his foundation) gave St. Jude's Children's hospital a few million a few years ago.

You've been presented with links in previous posts. I know he donated because people who worked with those organizations told me personally. He furnished a new wing at St. Jude's in Memphis. I don't know if there was publicity about it or not. I don't make a practice of doing other folks research.

So you have one anecdotal link that is 10% of the article and is dated AFTER Trump is running s for President(March10 2016)? Come on, I need figures! Give me links that show Trump being so Altruistic before he was running for President, i.e pre 2015.

I have nothing against Jesus. I'm an Ordained Minister. You, invoking HIM here, in this thread, is petty.

Please stop trying to derail the thread. If you want to discuss Trump's history of philanthropy, start a thread.
It makes no difference to me whether you believe he gave money to charity or not. If you are curious do a search. Don't expect others to do your research.
Quit whining.
You've been provided links. Google Donald Trump's Foundation. That should get you started.

Trump's family does lots of anonymous donating, and now most of the official charity goes through his son Eric's foundation.

We heard their reasons. They are nothing more than flowered up excuses. Oh and not a right winger by the way. Still thinking of voting Stein.

This particular issue however is pushing me towards considering Trump. Not so much because of what he did. But because of everyone #ting on it like providing moral support and helping people is a bad thing.

If this is who his opponents are, then maybe I should be on his side. Because there's literally no sense of decency in attacking what Trump did or excusing people for providing minimal help and caring only AFTER Trump stepped forward.

Thank you!!

This proves how intolerant and self absorbed they truly are.

She is quite right. She would be a distraction. The focus would shift from the people who need it most right now to Hillary instead, and that is both counterproductive to the recovery effort and unfair to those folks. They need the spotlight right now...they are the important ones in this situation.

She is being pragmatic and gracious by allowing these people to do what they need to do in order to get through this, without detracting from the focus of their community by showing up.

Funny, isn't it...the people so indignantly accusing her of being cold and indifferent because she chose not to go make a spectacle of herself during the aftermath of a devastating disaster seem to have zero problem with minimizing the very real plight of those people by making a spectacle of her anyway. It should be astonishing to see such rampant hypocrisy...sad that instead, it's not surprising in the least.

""Pragmatic" ? BS

That's like saying "Sorry can't come to a funeral because all eyes would be on me" It's about showing respect, compassion, and having the respect for the people that are suffering.

I can't said either candidate, but Hillary is cold hearted.

If Hillary actually cared enough to go down there, it would have gotten the area massive media attention the needed.

I always scratch my head at people that ask of other people to do their work for them. Yes, there are numerous incidences of Trump doing altruistic things, including some that no one ever heard about until he ran for President. Google is there for a reason. Use it. Stop asking us to do the research for you. No one walks around with links in their freaking head.

What you are doing, is the equivilent of a toddler sticking his fingers in his/her ears and screaming " LALALALALA" so they don't have to hear something they don't want to.

Simply not doing it, is also like sticking your head in the sand.

Google it. It's there. Don't be lazy. I did, I read, and they're good. I will not provide you links for something you are not motivated to look at for yourself.

You wouldn't read them anyway, your mind is already made up. Don't pretend it's not and that some links on a forum on ATS will sway you in any way.

Wonderful thing you are doing. Hats of to you and your family for caring.

I don't think the OP was doing a Trump vs. Hillary thread, what they were in fact doing was pointing out which candidate actually cared about what was going on in LA, just like you care.

If a future candidate doesn't seem to give a crap when a huge disaster like this occurs, do you actually think they are going to care when they are in office?

What's fascinating is that the people who hate Trump are actually trying to criticise him for going. It's opening people's eyes to the idea that all these anti-Trump stories they keep seeing might be unjust after all. After a while, people lift their heads up and say. 'wait a minute, that's a bit odd to criticise him for that - perhaps these people were not be honest about him before...'

Good News! They opened up shrimping season in Louisiana early due to the floods!

On a more serious note...

Ok.. One more bit of Cajun lemonade:

www.facebook.com...

Now for something a lil more serious...

For those of you who were interested in how people in Louisiana feel about the visit from Trump... Here is a snippet of one galz observation:

Ok since the media will not tell anyone about this I will at least tell my friends and make this public so y'all can share and tell yours as well because I think it needs to be said.

Donald Trump visited Louisiana today. He brought with him a truck loaded with food, supplies, and toys that he personally passed out. He also donated money to a flood relief charity. He went and walked flooded houses in a community. He didn't ask for state police or military security, I I imagine he may have had his personal security with him but hey he pays them so not my business. He didn't ask for any road to be closed to bring him in or an escort to his destination, matter of fact he didn't inform the government of his visit at all. He didn't care if the government knew he was coming, he just came and brought needing people needed supplies. And the news covered it about 15 seconds and then used it as a hit piece to plug Obama's visit that will happen. It was just wrong on many levels. No matter of you agree with Trump political are not what he done today was honorable and good, and he did it without making a big deal of himself. I hope more people of his statue will do the same in the same way, without all the hype of announcing their visit with intent of a public photo op.

There are a lot of personal expressions by the average joe in LA for those that want to go and dig around for them. Facebook is full of them. Sure, they're personal opinions but it's the opinions of LA residence and that matters.

This guy... This guy right here. (Video included)

Flood Survivor Tears Up as He Explains What Trump’s Louisiana Visit Means to Him

For those that stand by the accusation of Trump's 10 second photo op..

Here is 11 minutes.

Yeah it doesn't work that way, buddy. If you're asking a question to try and corner your opposition, you should at least bring your own research to the table. I'm with nmore... I also have come across proof against your statement but since you're trying to one side this, I as well will not post proof for you. I mean... No disrespect taken.

Even though I didn't take it as "what did you do for others", I'll offer since your response made me think it might come up later.

As I mentioned, I'm actually at work so I'm not able to be there. I still have to make a living. BUT...

My truck, my boat, my boat trailer, 30 gallons of gas and 5 cases of water (minus a few bottles - all I had in the garage at the time) left with my neighbor and long time compadre' last week to help while I had to work. I work 14/14 and my kind of work doesn't just let you off unless you're having your own personal emergency. I might not come back with a job if I do. You can bet your silly a$$ that when I get home in a few days, I'll have plenty of time to help refurbish some houses, clean some yards, cook some BBQs and offer whatever support I can for my family and friends who were affected. Sounds like I'll have my hands full for sure.

In all honesty... My post wasn't a Trump vs Anyone. It was a "One man actually did something while another tweeted and another played golf". 2 people couldn't be bothered but one went out of his way to help a people. It had nothing to do with elections. That was simply a byproduct of his actions and only a byproduct. I was angry and ashamed at how Nero fiddled and another who "cares" didn't much care. I think my post was meant to direct attention to that. What it turned in to was something a bit different as I can see response after response focusing on trump's planned photo op and his true purpose and whatever.

Still and all, you are 100% right. 110% and more so... Guess I let the anger get to me than to make true lemonade and focus on needs rather than an aggressive stance. In my defense, I DID say that I had the beer instead of the lemonade
