Barstar Lumberjerk An Almost True Story

I wonder If someone started an actual thread on catfishing to help warn against people like this would be helpful? I have only just heard yesterday what it actually is.

It seems to me that there was a thread once about that topic, awhile back.

Of course this thread is a 'short story' and meant to be a comedy. That is up to the reader to decide if they find any comedic value.

My friend that I spoke of earlier in this thread finally figured out he was being scammed. Right before her (the catfishing 'model') flight to the US something happened to all of her money and passport and she needed some amount of money to help her. When he said no, she blocked him. No more phone calls, no more emails, etc.

You have to wonder if the person in question believes the entire story, that deep down they have a suspicion that everything is too good to be true.

I think he did sort of know it was fishy but he's lonely and she was very convincing (he forwarded me the emails and such).

I'm sort of glad (in a strange way) that he isn't wealthy or he surely may have sent her all of his money.

What did her in was moving too fast. She sort of blew her own cover and the story was ridiculous anyway. Much like Barstar's.

I almost think you have to know. I never discount my intuition, it has done me well so far.

She is probably using that as a learning experience and polishing her technique for the next mark she happens to go after.
