This is the Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg. It's 150 square meters, and includes 40 aircraft, lights, and other vehicles. The aircraft are pushed back from the gate by miniature tugs, taxi to the runway, and take off. Others land, and then taxi in to their gate, where they park. As they come in to land, they wobble, as if it's windy, just before touchdown.

There are cars that drive around near the airport, and even a fire scenario where a house in town catches fire, and the fire trucks rush to put it out.

Only 20 minutes?

I'm going to have to loop it so I can watch this all day.

There are quite a few more videos on YouTube from there. They have an entire city set up, with trains, cars, the airport...

I've lived on this earth a very long time and have yet to be lucky enough to fly in a 747***…
It will always be my favorite passenger plane(with only the super 80 near it in my heart)...
Though as the years drag on my I fear I will never get to fly on a 747…

Also loved the DC-10 that was third I think....

What an awesome production....looks like an expensive hobby...but wow it's cool

***edit: how many planes can fly through a volcanic cloud and still land safely??
BA flight 9(speedbird) was my favorite "air disasters" episode...the 747 RULES

Boeing is close to ending production of the 747. The 747-8 sales have been horrible since they introduced it. They've only had 125 ordered between passenger and freighter versions, and 104 have been delivered. After the final 11 are built, there's only the Air Force One replacement left, unless they get a big order. So within a year or two we'll see the end of the 747 line coming fast.

There are a couple of commercial aircraft storage areas that are stuffed to the gills with 747s in storage, waiting to be disassembled and scrapped.

I'd give you one, if I could, Zaph.

But I do hope you don't start taking up a collection for one. LOL.

I've always wanted to see the underside of this place, just to see how complex the system that makes it work is.

I'm guessing it's HO/OO gauge?

I'll have to see if it's possible to catch a connecting train from Trago Central the next time I'm there.

It doesn't get much better than GWR steam, though I've been on a big heritage diesel kick as well lately.

I need a bigger basement.
