I dont know about your location...but the 5 day notice to quit...sometimes means you really have 30 days to vacate. Something to do with your 1st and last months rent when you moved in.

I really DONT know...so....Please check it out in your area for free legal in phone book. Or on line in your area. Now. Do it quick.

Good luck to you friend!

You seem like an intelligent person
You appear to be a person that pays attention to details and does quality work. With that attitude you will get out of this current quagmire mess in no time. You will climb up from this and it surely wont take long. Right now stay focused on your plan. Later, you can work on how to know who to trust and how much time you should know somebody before you allow them to be close enough that they can affect your finances and shelter.
Just from reading your thread, I can tell you are equiped to deal with all these problems.

You seem too trustworthy of people. I don't get screwed over anymore because of my pessimistic view towards people. Hope all goes well.

Update:

Thanks again for your support
I am still working on resolving this, hopeful that it can be worked out. My landlord is insisting that I move out. Legally I believe I have 2 weeks. He says if anyone is late with rent three times they're kicked out, no questions asked. I need to look for another apartment. I do not have the money to move at the moment, but I may get helped with this. My family cares but they cannot support me financially right now.

If yo you have to go homeless you would be fine unless fear grabs you. The world is big and salvation stalks from every corner. I remember this advice from a friend who was 3 years homeless and got six months in prison. Good luck 🍀

No it's not. With me, I made the mistake of listening to my sister in law when she said that we wouldn't have a problem putting a house or two on this one property. Well, somebody contacted Habitat for Humanity saying they had building supplies and then backed out. My sister in law's friend made things worse by threatening them with a law suit. We ended up moving in with "friends". My brother and sister in law moved out. I'm stuck here. My "friend's" mom died. She kept saying she paid the electric bill but didn't. It's now over $1,000 behind. It's getting shut off at the end of the month so then no power to cook with, no lights, and no water because the pump is electric.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you lost a lot through the ordeal. It's difficult to know who you can trust or rely on. I hope you get things sorted out before long. If we can learn from our mistakes in trusting people too much, I guess we can avoid falling into similar situations in the future.

Update:

I am forced to move out. My landlord wanted me gone by the 24'th, but I said legally I have until the 25'th. This would allow me to get another payday in before I move, just before. I have 200 or so dollars, plus another paycheck coming next Thursday for 600-something. I may get some money from ebay sales in a week, depending on how long Paypal takes transferring it (sometimes they make you wait a while.) It will be close. I am going to have to look for somewhere cheap, a cheap bachelor apt or a room. I have boxes of books and movies that may become garbage. I have nice furniture that may become garbage. But I have to be realistic. I need a place to stay, that takes priority. My sister has offered to drive up and take my cat for me, if need be, so at least he can have a place to live if I cannot find a place that permits cats. He has been a major concern for me, so this takes some pressure off. I just need a cheap place for now, until I get a better paying job. Worse comes to worse, I might have to stay at a hospice.

Sell your stuff-its usually just stuff/I do it mostly fb but also cl (tho not in Atlanta-different clientele there). See if u can do a sidewalk sale or use someones driveway. We usually don't need to lug around alot of stuff-life's easier that way I have discovered moving between Georgia and Florida taking care of my parents and I was tired of storage bills-I have pared down to my best furniture and important things like pics etc. It is actually great to feel lighter, more free. Thinking of you-best wishes-I also have encountered a coupe unpleasant landlords and it is better to move on.

Can you not just tell the landlord to go # himself and get a court order?
Here in the UK it is really hard to get tenants out, the civil court will grant extensions to the tenancy etc, and the landlord cannot harass you...folk do it here all the time just to save their asses from ending on the streets.

If you continue paying them the rent then certainly in the UK the courts are the tenants friend.
I know a landlord who paid the tenants deposit/first months rent on a new place he was so desperate to get her out.
He knew his legal costs would be much more so it was a cheaper option...even paid for the removal truck lol

Oh Dear, it is all most a death sentence, I don't know what to say.
I hate when "Life" sends us through a dessert.
Can you maintain Wi-Fi so you at least can stay "connected" ?
What a silly notion though, you need to be connected to flesh and blood people. Grunt.
As you, my greatest concern would be my animals, so I am happy your kitty will have a safe place.

May I share? I guess you don't have a choice.

More than a quarter century ago when my Mother passed, her family, in which country we lived, abandoned me and Dad, for one and half year I was left alone with his care until he finally, mercifully passed in his sleep.
But even then no one came to help me clear the property and I was left in deep depression and a hatred I have battled to overcome.
They despised Dad who took Mom away from them and I was just as much a foreigner as him.
What I am trying to say is, my hatred I can not ignore, but I must conquer it and I learned to be very careful of whom I trust.

Gods Speed to you my friend, and I will have you in my prayers.
