Yeah, Allegiant usually manages to divert everywhere but where they're supposed to fly to.

A few shots from RAF Marham below. Went to try for some F-35 shots but still love the Tornado and will miss them when they are gone, as I did with the Hunters, Lightnings, Victors, Canberras, Phantoms etc......etc.....

right, i was using it for illustraTIVE purposes and to show that the Ruskis have in the past flown and built large aircraft.

Does informed conversation mean one is being pedantic?

I'm of the opinion that to fly is heavenly, but to hover is divine.

Not the best quality as they're scanned from old and faded colour prints, but some shots of SR71A 17980 which was resident here at Mildenhall. These were probably taken late 1970s or early 1980s.

I remember back in the early to mid 80's when visiting my parents in Norfolk, on the early morning dog walks we'd see the tankers circling over The Wash and then see the SR-71's arriving and hooking up. Used to see the TR-1's from Alconbury too, extremely high and spiralling down before heading home.

The only thing better than actually seeing these fly was the sound the start cart made when they fired up the two Buick V8s.....

F-22 through a Su-35 IRST. Supposedly.

Not sure how to read that IRST, the heading looks like it is just off 180 degrees?

OT, but there was a crash in SC today, runway 19 overrun by a Dassault Falcon 50.
Don't they use a safety factor for runway length?
Coincidentally the band Lynard Skynard took off on the same runway in 1977 crashing several hours later.
Just random.

Of course they do. And one end of that runway has a special concrete mix that collapses under the weight of the aircraft, and slows it down. But depending on the cause, you can't always stop them.
