I find that athletics can be a bit boring. I settle for the team sports, notably hockey and rugby sevens. Really glad the latter is now "in". I also enjoy the rowing and dingies. Basically sports and activities I used to enjoy doing. Let's hope cricket is in the next one, eh?

On athletics, I must admit to really liking the multi-disciplines, like heptathlon.

Golf should be banned. Replace it with tiddlywinks.

EDIT;

Come on Belarus what are you girls doing?? LOL
picking up their dribble for no apparent reason.. shooting without looking... Not even taking open shots.. and those turnovers..
somehow they are only down by 2

the crowd isn't huge but they are awesome.
cracking me up

and they've tightened up their game..
it's so close

Looks like Japan has it..
Japanese (presumeably) guy in the stands almost fell ovre the next seats trying to do a simple high five..

hahaha

Oh noooo
it's asking me to verify I have cable now.. LOL wonders how I just watched all that without that happening in the first place

The basketball competition..

Wow what a joke,

The us national team is so overpowered ,men's and women's team both..

It's like watching the Harlem globetrotters play your local Y.M.C.A. League champions.

They really need to work something out with the imbalance. Some people insist we should go back to amateur only. It's a double edged sword in my opinion,
But that is a thread in itself.

Always root for the Aussies and the Americans, my grandmother was from Perth.

The Japanese are also doing really well in swimming this year!!

Love watching swimming, diving and gymnastics. Swimming is my favorite too, swam competitively for 13 years!

Just seen that all Russian athletes have been banned from the Paralympics.

All Russian athletes banned from Paralympics

Thats more than happened to the Olympic athletes, i feel that world politics were being pandered too as well when making the first lot of decisions......not so much with the paralympic decision.

I have decided to personally boycott the games.
After having watched the 'Real Sports' special on the IOC, screw this divertment. Gumbel vouchsafed my prior dire feelings.
This is just corpserate lunacy advocated by the Elites.
Ticks me off as I LOVE the gymnastics competitions.
To your own self be true and for me....I got other things I can do.

I was watching Belarus vs Japan. woman. They were awful like high school level where I'm from. That's not other teams' fault. It's not like the United States is cheating. Step up your game this is the Olympics where records are set. it's not about people being coddled.

Id rather watch other people get crushed cause they can't play worth a damn.
One of my old friends is one of the top field hockey players in the world. Is she too good for the Olympics so she doesn't get to go? Should I go instead?

Looks like Monday 9PM Perth time, you can translate from there, she's coming right at Australia.
Funny the entire time writing this post my roommate has been yelling Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! cracking me up.. Aussie is an Australian shepherd btw. LOL

Really enjoying the womens rugby sevens matches. Quite impressed by the skill and fitness levels of the athletes. The sport itself is exciting and fast paced. I am amazed at some of the hits ive seen. These women play very aggressively and have great speed, endurance and tackling form. I grew up on American Football and never took the time to learn and understand the game of rugby. Now, however, I plan on learning more about the different rugby codes and look forward to watching the US women finish this tournament strong. From what little I know, the US womens team is pretty darn good.

My friend, I did not mean to offend, my tongue in cheek comment is by no means indicative of how I feel.

I was an Olympic development team alternate, goalkeeping. I am a very competitive person and don't think anyone should be penalized for being "too good" at something..

Again my friend my apologies,

Respectfully,

I wasn't offended but didn't see the tongue in cheek either lol
sorry

but no, I was sort of just changing the topic to brag about my childhood friend.

and bring in some Aussie/American rivalry.

I was laughing so hard with my roommate yelling Aussie Aussie Aussie while tried to maintain composure.. it was just too perfect.

haha

uh oh you guys better be ready.

about 8 hours away.

www.nbcolympics.com... es-argentina-2-1

Michelle Kasold deflected the shot in off of another Dawson drag flick to put her team up 2-0.

This marked one of the biggest wins for Team USA in its Olympic history. The U.S. are slated against No. 3 Australia on Monday, another tough matchup for the No. 5 ranked team.

That would be the game winner as Argentina scored after that only once.

She was scary all the way back High school, but now? Yikes.

From facebook:

I'm so excited for her!

Get it girl!

thanks for the hug man.

Much respect.

Between the two of us we made a good point.

I used to play basketball with that girl.

She out stepped me 100 times in intensity.

I should have known she would be destined for greatness.

Winning shot in the Olympics against the best team in the world?
