A woman has been stabbed to death in Russell Square, central London and five others injured in a possible terrorist attack, according to reports.

Police were called at about 10.30pm on Wednesday (London time) to reports of a man seen stabbing people at Russell Square.

Police and ambulance attended.

A female was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later. Up to six people were injured.

Further details are unavailable.

A man was arrested a short time later after being shot by a Taser.

More police have been sent to the area.

Terrorism is one possibility being considered at this stage.

According to the Guardian a caller to BBC Radio London named wtinessed the scene.

"We came around the corner and there were armed police everywhere ... a massive police presence ... and a corpse lying in the street covered in a blanket.

"Apparently it was a gang stabbed a woman and she's dead.

"We went into the bar across the street and the officers came to interview us ... we didn't actually see anything but some people in the bar saw something."

Well it seems another "possible" terrorist attack in London.I saw on the news today they have ramped up armed police presence lately for this very reason. I feel maybe this is a test to see how the police react...I hope you guys stay safe over there.

According to Twitter it was reported by witnesses that "3 middle eastern-looking young men" fled the scene at high speed.

The woman who died was in her 60s . . .

Police say:

Mental health is a significant factor in this case.

What about the three seen bailing from the scene?

I think the current statement that Scotland made on CNN was very telling, saying the only details they would release was the man's age of 19.. WHY not name him I wonder?. Stating the obvious perhaps??..

They are also pushing the mental illness angle very hard, my guess is to take the mindset away from him being a "possible" terrorist to just being the lone nut..



As I stated a few weeks ago in a thread, within my job role in London I have had extensive anti terrorist training that is conducted by the agencies and Police. I have seen the actual Daesh guides and videos on what they want from a attack and they even state what shops to go to in the UK to get supplies. They want attacks carried out by individuals using things that are readily for sale, not these mass attacks that everybody thinks will come as the odds of pulling it off get slimmer the more people that get involved..

This type of attack is what we are know facing, esp in the UK as firearms are not as readily availiable as they are in mainland Europe.

It is also quite telling that it has happened just as policing has been stepped up..

To be fair at this point, I know this area of London very well and it is a multicultral soup at best, you will no doubt see black people,white people and middle eastern people running if this situation happened unless there is more pointing to them being involved then it will no doubt just be they where at the scene.

It is well known that during the summer months central London is more like Qatar than London with all the young middle eastern guys there packing out the bars etc.

I would guess he would want to be a Martyr, He is actually lucky that he was not shot and killed and only a taser was used..


My money if I was a betting man would be that he is a member of the religion of peace..

People must be absolutely stupid to pay any attention to this terro claim at all. This claim is as common as "speed was a factor" It is noting more than a standard automatic hackneyed phrase that absolutely compulsorily and concretely must be used in each and EVERY time something happens.

I am not having a go at the OP here, I'm having a go at those people in society who will do everything in their power, they possible can to strike fear into the hearts of as many people as possible to keep them as afraid as possible for as long as possible.

However, as I say one would have to be an idiot to fall into this line of thinking every time something happens. Do they not realise they are being manipulated?

Do they not ask "why is nothing ever just A criminal attack anymore? Why is that whenever since 911 does everything that happens have a to a suspected tero cause to it????
