It's my understanding that the dispute over the money was never settled because of the takeover in Iran at that time by an illegitimate government. This dispute has been in the courts for many many years. Obama decided to settle because there was a possibility we might lose the case in court. I have big doubts about that assumption.

On top of that, American hostages had been taken back then and held captive for 444 days in Iran. Also, under Islamic theocratic rule, Iran has been a major supporter of terrorism throughout the world. In addition, these last detainees were held for 544 days.

IMO, any monies we held should have been held as compensation for Iran's criminality. Let them pay. But...NO....Obama and his Iranian connected White House advisor, Valerie Jarrett, decided to settle the court case without telling the American people what they were going to do.

Wrong in fact the supreme court said it was legal when Iran took the case to them. The court case was settled and Iran got no money in fact the money was used to compensate amaricans from lawsuits they filed against Iran for Beirut bombing. So the money was gone the payment was made by treasury using taxpayer money. So I guess when our taxes go up thank Iran for receiving g what 1.4 bIllinion total I believe.

Just 3 or 4 months later in April the Supreme Court rules against Iranian bank over frozen assets.

Why did Obama jump the gun, thereby going ahead with this payment to Iran?

the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act of 2012, which said these assets "shall be subject to execution" to satisfy claims against Iran for acts of terrorism. The law cited by name the specific judgments won against Iran.

Thanks for showing us all that you haven't looked into this matter in the slightest. It wasn't US taxpayer money, it was theirs. It was Iranian money that had been frozen by President Carter in 1979, Iranian assets in the USA in other words. This is a matter of public record.

Obama sided with the Iranians....plain and simple.

He jumped the gun by settling this dispute even before our own Supreme Court ruled in favor of keeping those frozen assets for victims of Iranian terrorist acts.

Obama hurried up the settlement in Jan. and the Supreme court reached their decision in April. He couldn't wait to make sure Iran got 400,000,000 in CASH, and screw the SC.

I think we should all write, email, call our senators and reps and demand they look into this act by Obama. I personally think he broke the law.

I want to know who Nosratollah Khosravi-Roodsari, the detainee that chose to stay behind in Iran and return to his apartment really is. I want to know what his connections are, specifically within this White House administration.

I want to know why it was sooooo important that this money be given to Iran in cash when that will make it impossible to trace.

I want to know if Valerie Jarrett, who speaks Farsi, played a part in these negotiations and who in Iran she is connected to personally.

I want to know why Obama couldn't wait another couple of months till the Supreme Court ruled on these frozen assets before jumping the gun to get this money to Iran.

Fact: Obama sent $400,000,000 via backdoor channels IN CASH to Iran.

Fact: A few weeks after doing that, our own Supreme Court gave their ruling on the frozen Iranian funds. Those funds could be held for judgements by the victims of terrorist acts sponsored by Iran.

Fact: Too late. Obama jumped the gun and made sure Iran got almost a half billion dollars IN CASH and coincidentally four detainees were released that very day Iran received the cash money.

Fact: One of those detainees didn't even come home. He remained in Iran and went back to his old apartment.

Fact: This has nothing to do with Donald Trump's weighing in on it.
