Bish, are you jumping to her defense (despite the pint-sized human shield & aiming at police) because she was a she, because she was black, or because she was pretty? All of the above? I'm guessing a mix of all of the above, with emphasis on Answer C. A pretty face always attracts (pun intended) some degree of sympathy, no matter the crimes. If she was butt-ugly, I doubt anyone would be defending her actions at all.
I'm a straight woman. I do however have two children on the autism spectrum. And I really hate the fact that people with guns don't understand the part of our population that can be the most vulnerable. The problem with anything in the DSM manual is you are unlikely to look at a person and see that there is an issue.
The person with a diagnosis in the DSM manual may not even know how to express the confussion or ask questions appropriately. Add in a bully with a gun and the minions that defend the blue gang regardless and no one wins..
Pet peeve. Sorry

The police were not called to this address without time to prepare. The police had a file on this woman and her erratic behaviors. From the way they acted knowing they were on camera they did not value her life.
Taking the time to be properly prepared for her problems whatever they were didn't matter to them. They are out of control bullies.
All I can think of is that the Interwebs are forever. Those specific officers will be doing much more chasing of suspects than the rest. Anyone near them will be afraid to get shot.

Do all criminals deserve to die in the US? Aren't the police trained to disable at all? Surely she could have been shot in the leg or arm or wherever but not killed? I've seen some very very petty reasons for police killing some people when a disabling shot would have worked just as well. Some crimes really don't deserve a death penalty

Do you realize someone died over a failure to appear?! That's a life!
I don't care how good you think the police officer was at shooting... They still shot to kill. I hope the lawsuit for this wrongful death pays for this child to go to law school and help others.
Every single one of the responses above my post shows why there are more people buying guns. The correct response was to walk away and send an expert to serve the worthless fta. Clearly none of these had any sense between them to make something that stupid a life ending issue.
This has to stop. The officers need better training. They need to value the people and treat them with respect rather than simply being bullies with guns.

Apparently it was a 6 hr. standoff and the police brought the womans' mother and a psychologist.

By your link (not directed at you) the police fired a weapon at this developmently disabled woman and used her response to get a warrant more suitabke to their desires.
I don't believe anything they have to say. They should have never terminated the documentation of events. That alone tells me they're spinning some tale.

Sigh... The police officer was chastised by the judge. Let's leave my reason for paying extra attention to how the police behave alone and focus on how the next time we read about a police interaction the person lives long enough to be a defendant?
Eta: no, the police office had an ego trip and wanted me to say nothing. Not one word. He specifically said, " if you say one more word I'm arresting you." and when it was my turn to speak he threw me against the second floor half wall in the mall and arrested me. Didn't need bond, the people there called the police on the police because I was almost thrown off the second floor. Pregnant too. The judge just loved that.

It is attitudes like yours that caused this event to take place. You push agendas/narratives beyond their limits to where "developmently disabled" people hear the agenda/narrative and buy into it. Then you turn around and blame someone else.
Circular logic.
End. of. story.
