Accessing ATS on different devices...does your experience change?

Do you have a different experience when you access ATS on different devices?

I recently tried accessing ATS with a mobile phone, and I noticed some huge differences compared to accessing ATS on a desktop computer.

1. No avatars

I tend to gloss over (or skip) posts based on certain poster's avatars. I'm not doing that when I access ATS on my mobile phone. My experience on this site has changed for that reason. Everyone's posts seem to be more equal now.

2. There's no indication of who is 'better'

I have to admit that I let stats cloud my judgment when it comes to whether I'm going to read a long post. Without seeing stats (which I can't on my phone), I feel more inclined to read every post. Also, there's no indication of who the mods are. That's a little significant as well.

3. I can't see who started threads (in the lists of threads)

I skip threads sometimes based on who the thread starter was. I can't do that on my mobile phone because I can't see who started threads (in the lists of threads).

4. I'm more inclined to read other people's threads

I only focus on my own threads about 90% of the time when I use my desktop computer to read ATS. When I use my mobile phone, I want to read other's threads a lot more. I don't know why.

Yes. On my phone, there are things that are limited, those which you mentioned. I guess it is a matter of compressing things to fit the screen. Would be nice though to be able to get the full experience on these devices. Is what it is I guess.

I always use Desktop mode on every browser, every device. I don't like or care for the watered-down mobile versions of websites.

I prefer the full experience no matter what device I'm on.

I use my mobile to browse while on the go...yes, that includes bathroom time.

I prefer to post on desktop or laptop, as it is too tedious and difficult to say much with your thumbs.

Before I joined, I read everything on a 3ds game and all I noticed were nice and funny folks... smart and informative threads about various subjects...
I decided to join and thought how long will it take to get 80' million stars and about 20'ooo flags... easy to give that dream up.
Now I just be happy my numbers add up and after careful calculations...I've discovered something... that is between me and the systems of being here and stuff.
I almost lost work from playing animal crossing:new leaf, my addiction to ATS is better than ever and I am free to feel like going outside...because of my numbers translate to its okay... leave and return... it is summertime and we all need to enjoy our outside of ATS, lives... so... that's what my Ouija board said in telling about my calculating... math is a strong point in my work.... from good schooling and that knowing women are mathematicians too.

Yep. Sure does. Phone on the road, or on wifi, pc-home internet or work server isp, tablet wifi and where, laptop any and everywhere, where and when...

Mix them all up place to place, server to server, mobile to desktop, device to device, site traffic. I dont think we can expect standard consistency...ever.

Too many variables. Line 10 members and all their devices, servers, settings..and we all will receive and translate differently. Think of one on a borrowed wifi, another on dialup,another hi-speed, another on work server, another high traffic time of day, cheap against expensive devices, etc.

We've been spoiled to think everyone, everyplace, everytime on every server, setting and device, makers and location...should expect consistency all the time.

With all of us different with different companies, devices, servers and settings...we cant expect to be all the same, all the time, no matter what.

We're bound to freeze up, drop, load, not load etc etc...all the time...member to member.

I use the iPad and the iPhone with the same experience on both, except that the iPhone is damn tiny..... I have it set to desktop mode, I like to see the avatars

I much prefer my PC experience although the Ads on the PC sometimes get out of hand. My tablet and phone tend to auto-correct my messages to the point of creating gibberish. Overall PC is the best.

Personally I think it would be nice to be able to see or change avatars from the mobile sitealong with seeing some more stats & same with seeing who a mod is (not that it would change what I say but still) this also coming from an almost always mobile.

I see a few more embedded (flat) ads on my phone. That is apparently up to the phone provider. They can be different, my phone is at&t, but when I connnect it to my home wifi- which is always when I am at home- it is verizon.

here i am on my phone. Harder than it should be. I can see who started the thread, but other than that, you are right.

Just goto your account on your phone and switch to desktop view. It will look the same.
