Former NATO chief reports Putin is ready to "invade Poland with lighting speed" this build up of NATO troops surrounding Russia's borders has been slowly gathering for awhile now. Is it really possible Putin would take the next step? With all the posturing on both sides and war games competing to show their might on either side it's hard to say. Reading another thread here today about an "Iraqi" terrorist being detained with invasion plans found, the Pope's visit coming up and traces of unexplained explosives around it stinks of something. A planned false flag terrorist attack to distract from the real invasion to come? I sure hope NATO is ready to back up all the posturing that's gone on. What a great time for invasion while the world is focased on terror and political stuge fights...smh. sptnkne.ws...

Right now, if they tried it would be a bloodbath! with all the fierce nationalism you are seeing in Poland at the moment, the Polish would stand against them time enough for Nato to intervene and kick ass!

Bunch of articles just came out today. I didn't click OP's link but they all look pretty much like this:

The fact they aren't allowed in makes them feel more credible to me. Of course it's an opinion piece and far off the song being sung right now but I feel like MSM is purposely downplaying anything going on in the whole region and ignoring Putin and his veiled threats almost as if to provoke him. He hates not being heard and is obviously nuts and motivated by media attention. The whole thing scares me. I don't have another source with this particular slant on it...no.

Bull crap. Russia has no interest in Poland.

More of "Look here, not over there!"

And NATO trying to justify its existence in the absence of any viable threat to Europe.

Most Americans, through no fault of their own, have no idea how powerfully important it is to the Military elites and their families to keep NATO going. There are entire generations of American Generals and other high ranking officers who've lived the good life in Europe since the fall of NAZI Germany stationed in Europe. And of course one of the most coveted postings is the NATO headquarters in Verona, Italy. I went to school with a kid whose father was a high ranking Colonel serving at the NATO HQ in Verona.........the kid went on to graduate from West Point and is probably back in Italy today. Or Germany........or.......Naples. Tough life that.

Yes it would be bloody which I think would suit Putin just fine, anything to get the media to focus on him! The question I have to ask is what will NATO do if they were to invade? I mean Ukraine Obama had strong words and sanctions...I think it would have to be more this time and if it were to happen has a real chance of spiraling out of control. Maybe Obama wants that...WW3 = wartime measures and a way to skip the election? You know as a back up plan if all the horrifying election stuff and civil unrest doesn't enable him to enforce martial law before. These scenerios leave some options on the table!

Awesome, thank you.

So he's talking a blitzkreig, wow.

I hope it's just more anti-sanction bluster.

Russia won't invade us. And as another pointed out we are more nationalistic now. Likely one of the more nationalistic nations of Europe. There would be resistance, though of course there are some that haven't been blessed with the nationalist fervor some of us have been endowed with. Certainly an interesting scenario to ponder though.

Poland probably has a better army than Russia these days!

Russia is no longer the military super power of the 80s.

Poland on there own cpuld probably win, throw the UK, USA and France with 21st century tec and it would be a one sided blood bath!

I agree they have no real interest in Poland but I think historically it's of importance and could be used to light a fuse. Those NATO mucky mucks might actually have to do something soon the way things are going these days. I mean all this useless obviously strategic terror has to have some purpose. Plus it's the youth festival or whatever where tonnes of young people flock to follow the Pope around for some bizarre reason...he's going to Poland.

What complete and utter tripe! As an earlier poster stated, Putin has no desire for WW3, he has no desire for Poland, or any other NATO-backed country. Of course, Putin would fight any aggressor against Russia, he would have no choice. This is just another military chief seeking funding to bolster NATO armed forces, worried about UK's Brexit, and the pragmatic destabilisation of Europe due to the EU's 'open border' policies.

I just spent half a year in Russia.

Nearly EVERY one I talked has no fear of war with the US. They were far more concerned with sanctions, terrorism and railguns for some reason. Even though we have yet to field one.

See that's the thing a lot of people miss with georgia and ukraine.

Georgia got told no to NATO membership and then Russia made a black sea coast grab.

Rinse and repeat in Ukraine.

I sincerely hope not. It was hearing of a terror suspect being detained there today with explosives and "invasion plan" on him whatever tha means then reading this article that got me thinking. Also dogs finding traces of explosives on the road and route the Pontiff is meant to follow. Scary stuff happening these days, and I don't for one minute believe all of these "lone wolf" attacks are anything like they are presented to us. There is a reason for all of it!

While I am certain the Polish army is amazing NATO's fight to build up on the Russian border is driven by Russia's ability to have an insane amount of troops ammassed at any section of their border really fast like 20000 per 24 hour was the last estimate I read in NATO's justification for needing to build forces and weapons at all allied bases bordering Russia and they have been doing so. I hope that all of it is just posturing!

That's interesting there is no fear. I don't think there is much of a fear anywhere beyond a few news sources. That is what they would want though isn't it? Same thing the MSM is doing in America putting the focus on everything else they can.

God, lets hope not! The last time they had to "do something" was in Serbia/Kosovo. Totally mucked that one up. In one case they tried to ship dismantled Apache or Cobra helicopters to their forward base in the Balkans; the helo's were shipped in crates and they couldn't put half of them back together. NATO, at least the US contribution, is an armchair command, not a fighting force. I saw hundreds of NATO officers, US, Italian, etc. at a conference.......in Venice after one of their 3 martini lunches at Harry's Bar. Its amazing some of the poor drunken bastards didn't fall into and drown in one of the canals.
