So took an officer's gun?

Tragic but this isn't a story. It was an escape attempt by a dirtbag in jail.

Thanks OP for being on the ball. You were way ahead of the info which is good in my eyes.

Can we hope that as in many cases, the first reports are over the top? I hope so because whoa...

If you have ever been there, right across the river is Benton Harbor affectionately called Little Chicago because of the crime.

Simple answer, hoodlum got a gun. Nothing similar to Dallas and only a coincidence

Several of them, yes. Including one cousin who until a few months ago, I never would have believed it of. The things they say are absolutely vicious.

Two bailiffs killed, one deputy wounded. Nothing on the perp. Curious.

ETA - shooter confirmed dead. Deputy is stable. "Several other people" injured but all believed to be stable.

Ha! I'd rather it were a Mandela than having to watch people transform into raving lunatics right before my eyes. But it's more than stress. What I'm seeing is pure insanity.

I think the President inciting the public by saying the justice system is broken and racist and compelling individuals to take urgent action might have a little something to do with it.

“These are not isolated incidents. They’re symptomatic of a broader set of racial disparities that exist in our criminal justice system. ”

“change has been too slow, and we have to have a greater sense of urgency about this.”

My questions are
1) what was the person going to prison for, and for how long
2) how does the officer feel about having his gun taken from him and used to kill

Any theories as to why?

I'm further north, and not native to the area. I'm going to take my neighbor's word on this one: "Probably some stupid POS gangbanger from Benton Harbor."

I made the mistake once of musing that BH looked like a nice sleepy little town when we drove through it moving up here. My neighbors got a kick out of my naivete & unfamiliarity of that area. Apparently it's a straight up hellhole

Early reports indicate that the bailiff who was disarmed is likely dead so he or she probably doesn't feel much.

Cute question though.

It really doesnt matter what he was going up for.

Just to refresh everyones memory, maybe 10 or so years ago the police were in pursuit of a criminal on a motorcycle in Benton Harbor. The criminal didnt make the turn and splattered himself on the side of a building.

Of course the town rioted and burned buildings and turned over cars.

I will know more when the details come out,...
