My advice is to remember that it is a mind game, especially boot.

this is fact. And unless you really, really enjoy push ups, keep the lips together.

If you start to question anything, remember, some really dopey people got through it, so you will have no problem. You will meet some of them.

I hadn't realised you wanted a lobotomy?

However its your choice but seriously, I would ask myself am I capable of obeying orders from someone treating me as cannon fodder and will I get a decent training so that when I leave (unless you actually love it) I will have a career also outside of the army or whichever service you decide to go into because too many of our ex troops end up on the streets, traumatised and unemployable.

Disagree. Only a small percentage end up on the street or mentally troubled which may or may not have anything to do with being in the military. Majority of Veteran suicides also never deployed. They never saw or did anything.

Yes.

My advice is no.

If you want to be a merc working for the zionist power structure? Sure. Go for it.
Youre cannon fodder.

Wanna be a patriot? Join your state guard/ miltia.

Find an old nam vet to talk to. Maybe an iraq war vet.

When it comes down to it, is youre wyrd. Serve your people or the zionists.

You are a bit older to join. You seem like a bright guy though.

I didnt want to join because Viet Nam was just winding down at the time. I would have gone but didnt want to.

My dad rushed down to join the Navy after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. They grabbed him and stuck him in the Army instead, then put him on a ship for Japan for a land invasion. Im certain he was scared. We dropped the bombs while he was on his way over or I would likely not be born. He got an awesome education deal out of it, and medical training during his service, and never had to kill anyone.

Now I work for a Japanese owned steelmill, that treats me pretty damn good.

My son wanted to join the Marines, and I was worried and attempted to talk him out of it. He was in a truck that rolled over in the mountains, and broke his arm pretty bad. That shut him down at the time, and now he wouldnt even think of joining

I'm a Army vet and I have two sons currently serving in the Army. If you decide to go in the Army, go to one of the Intel schools if you can get a top secret clearance. That's what 1 son and I did. There's a fairly decent civilian job market for analyst with clearances. The Intel folks get treated pretty well and there's normally lots of other schools like airborne open to them. Most Intel people want to sit in the AC and do their work, So there's always room in hooaahhh type courses. After AIT, depending upon where u get stationed, it's pretty much a regular job. No matter what branch you decide on and I cannot stress this enough, everything they promise, get it in your contract. If you r already fairly physically fit and know how to listen, you'll do fine in most any boot camp. Marine boot camp is the most demanding. My son that didn't go Intel even though he had high asvab wanted to do Rambo stuff, so he went infantry and has been bored to death every since. If they are not training or in a combat zone, they r in garrison doing busy work. Mowing grass, painting rocks. I went in right after high school and planned to make it a career, then about 8 years in, the issued me a back injury. That ended that. It can b rough on the body, so make sure to keep your own copy of any injuries. Matter of fact, keep a copy of all of your records. They r notorious for loses files. Good luck in whatever you decide

Get into satalite imagery network engineering or listen to the guy in the post above. Top secret clearances then go to college get your degree and go work for an alphabet agency. Stay out of combat mos branches. Use the military in a smart way dont be cannon fodder. Live long and prosper. Also very important. Join in Texas after the GI bill runs out Texas will pay for 150hrs of college through the hazelwood act for free. So hooah!

I just saw your post. Have you joined? If not, follow advice given and get everything in writing. The recruiter can offer a lot, sometimes, but what really matters is when you get to your MEPS station. The counselors there are the ones who determine and offer you your job choices. If they don't have what you want, don't sign. Walk away.

Best piece of advice:

You are dirt. No you are less than dirt. You are a #ing seed in the dirt. And wetter or not you become a flower, or a #ing tree depends on what you want to be.

Hate doing chores? Good luck flower, you are in the laid out tracks of a lawn mower.

Hate cleaning? Get ready sapling, you are about to get chomped by a stray deer.

Hate excersizing at 2 am? Shut the # up before you get hollowed out by a maggot.

Want to fly that plane? # that, you can't even handle the winter storm you stump!

So I heard you like jumping fences. Now craw under the barbed wire you fuzz ball. We don't hire jack rabbits.

Basically... get ready to feel like you want to quit.

Get ready to stop giving a # about your personal image. Get ready to feel that nagging 80 year old tossing you around like an old sex doll.

What ever you do, don't hate them. And don't show a soft side. Keep your comments in your mind, and hold no prejudice.

If you have any signs of weakness... just try to understand that they are trying to break you in order to fix you.

Thats a general rule to life.

I should really post an update to this thread.

I was DQed at my medical. Packed up and ready to go. All I needed to do was sign after the medical exam.

It was a minor health issue that would have taken a few months to set up a physical with a specialist.

Basically I needed to see an army doctor to "document" my condition so the army doesnt have to pay for it for the rest of my life / its preexisting and I didnt get it after I joined.

That wasnt realistic for me. I have since gotten a better job that keeps me physically fit to join and that most importantly, pays me what I need to earn now.

My responsibilities didnt change you know.

So no army in my immediate future. I am looking into joining the reserves or the national guard this year.

Thanks to everyone for the advice in any event. Everyone was tremendously helpful.

Hey all,

So I am going to my second meeting with my recruiter in the morning (Army). I have started getting physically and mentally prepaired for it.

Took a practice ASVAB tests, did pretty good. (dont remember the scores, recruiter said it was good, would have good options)

I was wondering if anyone had some advice, insight, or anything.

I will be honest, I read the timetable, what happens when, all of that. I still cant imagine what to expect. I know its going to hurt, suck, be boring at times, repetative and all that. Thats not what I am worried about.

What are the best jobs, whats the best way to get promoted (really), how would an average guy get into officer school, how long and what do I have to do, /would help, to that end. When do enlisted people even go to school? How much time do we really get to ourselves after basic, after specialty training...?

Things like that are what I want to know. I dont know if I can trust a recruiter to answer that honestly.

I cant really get my head around this next bit. I read and talk to people, but this doesnt make sense:

If we want to be officers we need school, ok, It doesnt seem possible to get that education once enlisted, so how do people do it?

Mostly this is my nerves looking for something to focus my mind on.

Also, I am 32 YO. I am going to be the old man right? Is that very bad?

any advice would help.

Thanks in advance.

Yea, don’t let the government use u to be a mercenary puppet for there conspiracy wars. The war on terror is the biggest lie ever told and that’s all imma say, and that’s why it will never end
