The first reviews from early screenings of the new Ghostbusters franchise are starting to trickle in across the internet, and... well, see for yourself.

The controversy surrounding this movie is no secret, with long time fans like myself calling it a travesty after the release of the first trailer (the most disliked movie trailer in YT history) and the subsequent backlash by the PC brigade calling everyone who didn't like it "sexist" because the movie has an all-female line up.

But everyone has their own taste in movies, so it's up to you to decide whether you like it or not. I will most likely wait to download a bootleg copy when it hits the torrent sites.

I am a woman and a GB fan but I couldn't even sit through any trailer as it is so embarrassing. Cringe worthy and unfunny. Nothing to do with it being women, it's an unnecessary and extremely unfunny sequel. It should be burned.

Agreed. When I watched the trailers it felt like I was watching a bad episode of SNL with scooby-doo graphics. It's just using the GB brand to earn a quick buck while blatantly pandering to the PC crowd.

I had no issue with the idea of using a female cast, or even a mixed male/female cast, but from watching the trailer, I knew it was going to be a dud. They could have had some fun with this movie. Instead, it's a bust. Not the first time Hollyweird has wasted several million dollars, and it certainly won't be the last.

Much of these sharp comments by the first video here precisely match my criticisms of "Independence Day (Resurrected) as I have renamed it. It seems that back-room plans about what they wanted to push were more important than a decent story, dialogue, and casting. Diversity, we got it! Overuse of green screen, we got it! A bungled movie they got it as they tried to meld PCness with a simple action story.

I've made sexist, smartass remarks already in another thread about this.

But in this thread, I'll be a little more serious.

Sigourney Weaver raised the bar in 1979 in her portrayal as Ripley in the Alien franchise. She was incredible.

These 4 doing a tired remake don't have the gravitas to shine her shoes.

Well, they simply don't take the movie/(franchise)/canon as hardcore as the other fan of this movie. I will see.

I have absolutely no interest in watching the 'remake'.

Been awhile since i watched the first one.

Think I will do so later today.

I have often wonder if the decline in educational standards over the last 20 years is directly related to quality cinema.

And the extreme lack of it.

The problem is that this remake just rehashed tired old clichés. And when the public didn't like the clichés, they had the temerity to call the criticism, sexist.

How many more classics can hollyweird destroy, I am just hoping they stay far away from Blade Runner, Alien and 2001 a space odyssey.

Oh and plz stay away from any Charlie Chaplin movies.

Paramount just cast Denzel Washington as Don Vito Corleone in the upcoming Godfather remake.

Not a fair comparison. Denzel would nail it.

Ridley Scott is producing so I think his creative influence will be what drives the film.

Just to point out how far Hollyweird will go, not only are they making a movie about the game Tetris... but the story they conceived was so big that it's going to be a trilogy.
