How about doing a background that isn't terrible?

Bumping this for importance. The backgrounds are not only horribly distracting, they are horrible. Please turn them black. And I see that some people are using the white text option, most here prefer the dark text which can be changed in the blink of a gnat's eye (viewed via electron microscope).
