Don't worry I am not dead nor am I planning to be just yet, but on a long train ride out to the country side, my thoughts drifted into something a bit morbid, what happen if the train derailed and I am now dead!??.. I haven't made any provisions or given much thought of what to do with dead me, as far as I was concerned or not! that's other peoples problem.
Problems would arise out of me not caring what to do with dead me, my Japanese family would gladly burn me, while my Jamaican/ American family would be horror struck , I can see very powerful matriarchs on both sides squaring off over dead me.
After giving it some thought and what would be best, I began to philosophize..what really does it matter if I am burnt to ash or eaten by worms locked in a box, gradually turning into dust.
Than a possible solution which would not make any of their hearts jumped with glee..what if I
Give my body to Science!!!.

Yes dead me would be cut to pieces put into famalgahide or frozen, med students would poke and prod me parts of me could even be cannibalized to be used to save some poor slob's life or improve quality of life..what would I care, am dead and can still be useful, in the end eventually dead me would be discarded , burnt or buried on a planet that is bound to blow up when our sun goes nova, returning everything that ever was back into stardust.

What would you do.

Totally cool!

I used to think I just wanted to be cremated but, check this out:
The Body Farm

And, if I happen to die before I get out of here then they will even come and get me as I am w/in the 100 mile radius for pick up and it won't cost anyone a dime!

Here's some more info on donor programs in the states:
US Programs

*Wanted to add one more link because it's just so cool!

It consists of a 2.5-acre (10,000 m2) wooded plot, surrounded by a razor wire fence. At any one time there will be a number of bodies placed in different settings throughout the facility and left to decompose. The bodies are exposed in a number of ways in order to provide insights into decomposition under varying conditions. observations and records of the decomposition process are kept, including the sequence and speed of decomposition and the effects of insect activity. The human decomposition stages that are studied begin with the fresh stage, then the bloat stage, then decay, and finally the dry stage.[2] Over 100 bodies are donated to the facility every year. Some individuals pre-register before their death, and others are donated by their families or by a medical examiner. 60% of donations are made by family members of individuals who were not pre-registered with the facility. Over 1300 people have chosen to pre-register themselves.[3] Perhaps the most famous person to donate his body for study was the anthropologist Grover Krantz, as described by his colleague David Hunt at the Smithsonian.[4] The University of Tennessee Body Farm is also used in the training of law enforcement officers in scene-of-crime skills and techniques.

I'll check to see if they have similar programs like the above in Japan.
Thanx from dead me.

They could always do the Weekend at Bernie's thing and basically walk you around like you're still alive. You know, make you into a meat puppet. It'll be hours of fun.

That idea was from James Joyce's Finnegans Wake. They dragged the corpse out for one final "round with the lads". Did not last hours though...

I feel Kligon about the whole idea! "Do with the body what you will... it is just an empty shell now."

(Great, I am going to be Trekkie for the rest of my online life)

I'm going to be carted off to be cremated. No funeral. I forgot to ask what they'll do with my ashes. Presumably sweep them up and scatter them or put them in bin bag for collection.

I would suggest, if you really think the family will bicker about what to do with you, that you make some provision for your disposal now.

How would a burial at sea suit everyone?

Husband and I have discussed being cremated and having our ashes mingled, planted with a huge, long-lived tree planted over top of them.

There is a company in Southern Ontario that places your corpse into a bio/chemical bath that dissolves flesh and organs. Your remaining bones are dried and crushed into a powder. The liquid bath containing your remains is then dumped into a sewer and treated like any other waste water and released into the environment. The powdered bones are returned to the family.

You beat me to it! That is what I plan to do with my body, let the students study it. A dear friend of mine trained at UT's body farm with Dr. Bass and a whole body of knowledge has emerged from his studies.
This sort of disposal seems to create the least pollution of the earth since no chemicals are used and no energy is wasted to dispose of the remains.

I'm struggling so, I hate English, sorry folks

I always thought that I would like to be cremated...

And then a few years ago I discovered that gemstones could be crafted from your ashes!
So I've decided that no longer do I want my body turned to ash and flung into the wind; I want my remains to be turned into gemstones.

I don't care how my body goes - For me, I saw that you could have your ashes become a glass paperweight.

Personally, I'd think it would be pretty cool to have my skeleton stung-up in a classroom, just so my mischievous spirit can scare the heck out of the students by making the skull turn in their direction when they least expect it.
