I'm atheist, but the thing is it's not something I acknowledged/accepted until I was 65.

I grew up Christian. Not fundamental, but still Christian. I went through a lot of processing of eliminating one nonsense thing after the other.

I get the "Jesus principle", I think most "real" Christians understand that and are capable of thinking for themselves. And understand that words from ancient times may not be completely accurate or reflective of how we see them in our time.
