I hope you seek and find help.

for what?? thinking that $450 thousand dollars is a rather large price for a small website owner to pay because he didn't keep his website updated to the times, or for some other reason, made some stupid mistake?

Or website owner can say, "Yes, you're right, let me fix it"

so you are saying that it would be okay if christian mingle just allowed a way for the gay community to join their site, and keep their services the same? and then all would be grand?? I highly doubt that. and like I said, at least it's obvious that their services might not be suitable for some.

I don't understand the complication.

Add "man seeking man" and "woman seeking woman" - - - how is that difficult?

If you are Christian, its suitable.

more difficult than stocking your bakery with little figurines and other decorations suitable for same sex couples.

it's easy to insert those two options in a search bar, but then the options need a search function, that database needs to be expaned to accommodate those options, ect. otherwise, those options are going to go nowhere.

you have to stock up on little figurines for straight marriages right?

OK, well then there ya go...you have them for the gay marriages as well.

This point is so asinine but also oddly cute to me that you are even bringing it up, I hope you understand that this is not an issue with the bakers, they do not want to bake the cakes bc of religion, not figurines.

edit on 6-7-2016 by veracity because: not figurines

That would be a special order and not required under anti-discrimination laws.

The bakery is only required to provide the same exact service to all. They can reject special decorations if it offends them.

If database is your job, its not a big deal.

I've coded a simple website, my ex does databases for a living.

i dont understand why gay people are using a christian dating site. or why christians are making dating sites. seems like the whole thing is a fustercluck of contradictions and ironies. there has to be an amazingly offensive joke in there somewhere. cant wait until someone happens across a gay muslim looking for a transgender mormon. way to bring the people together.

yes, but I've also seen it explained on these forums quite often that they would have to make a cake that is close to being the same as the ones they sell to straight couples. the same products in other words... they don't have to change their product to suit the homosexual couple by ordering special decorations for the cakes.
well in this case the product is in the form of an interactive website and database and you think the product should be changed.

I am only responding bc I love figurines...

So if you have a straight wedding, you would have a bride and groom, right?

If you have a gay male wedding, then you would have 2 grooms (same groom as straight wedding)

If you have a gay female wedding, then you would have 2 brides (same bride as straight wedding)

MOst people bring in their own figurines anyway.
If the bakery does not supply their figurines...then the couple can order and pay for their own figurines to have the baker put on the cake.

See, this is a non- issue (but oh so cute)

Christian Mingle is not changing their product, they are correcting it to meet state law against discrimination.

for some reason, the non-issues seem to be the most important issues of our time...
in the case of christian mingle, $450,000+ worth of issue.
I might feel differently if I was sure that christian mingle was given the opportunity (and time) to correct the problem before people started spending that kind of money on legal fees. bit it wouldn't surprise me if they did go straight to legal proceedings or were expected to adapt their site in an insanely short amount of time. it also wouldn't surprise me if the site was perfectly legal in 2001 when it was created.

and if I am reading this right:

finance.yahoo.com...

it's not like they are making tons of money. on the contrary, they are losing tons of money, over 3 million the first quarter of this year.

Well, who knows what they're really up to?

I tried a single's site for about a minute. Guess I'm still old fashion when it comes to dating.

Currently looking for an atheist hang out group.

EDIT: I understand there are a lot of predators on these Christian sites. Looking for the vulnerable and innocent.

How can one be christian and homosexual? It's against their beliefs. It's a sin.

They are forcing a christian website to support something that they do not believe in.

I don't get how anyone could think this is a good decision.

Isn't the point about Christian Mingle having to offer another service, which is already abundantly available on the internet? In other words, the government forcing citizens to offer services they never chose to. Because the website should now also make a JewMingle, MuslimMingle, HinduMingle, AmericanMingle, HispanicMingle etc. any group I believe feels left out. Sure they can make another website, how difficult is that? But so can those who are sueing just go to a different website which does offer services they require.

not sure how jesus would feel about his followers using the internet to "hook up".

Who knows what jesus thinks about a lot of things. Christians rely on his follower's word for most of the bible.

"Curse of Ham" - - - when its time to evolve, its time to evolve.

Person is raised in a God faith, its part of who they are.

They should have to give that up because they realize God made them attracted to same sex?

They are a business, not a church.

SCOTUS does not support belief as reason to discriminate.

As I said, then please try to score some drugs from a public open domain. Doesn't have to be FBI. Try your states website. VENUE!! Just because you are Christian AND GAY, doesn't mean the site has to cater to what they do not want to. I'd NEVER look for someone there. I'd be better off a Metalhead.com(IDK if that's a site)
. VENUE!!!!! Stop trying to push # on others. PLEASE.

but not all christians believe it's a sin? maybe the website should be forced to specify the denomination, or define what they mean by "christian"?
