BLM Toronto Halts Pride Parade, Forces Director to Sign Document Agreeing to Group's Demands.

I'm not sure I understand what is going on here.

Is it that BLM are not supposed to be in the pride parade because only White gays are allowed?

Obviously, the black gays were feeling a bit under-represented, at these events, especially given that a lot of the people who died in Orlando were non-white gays.

Is there some mysterious division between white and non-white gays?

Why can't we all just get along?

Would it be inappropriate if some Jewish gays joined the celebrations, and held up signs saying "Free Israel?"

After all, Israel also holds back gay groups, with all the orthodox sillyness that goes on over there.

Funny how there were no articles about this on Global News. I honestly thought it was fake at first, until I went to CBC's site and saw it on the front page.

Exactly.

BLM is agitating racial tensions in a city where racial division is virtually non-existent. This is how the group works. They purposely promote and instigate racial division as a means to justify their own existence.

BLM strikes(out) again. Rather than try to antagonize others into supporting them, maybe they should consider earning their respect instead?

Since this kind of crap seem to be a new trend with BLM demonstrators, I suggest that at gay rights parades, the marchers carry a multitude of spray paint cans with them. When BLM shows up, spray paint their dumb asses in the colors of the rainbow. All it'll take is once or twice, and this BLM "tactic" will cease.

yes well, as Ask the Animals posted someone is part of that agitating , they need funding from somewhere, and our very own Mr. SELFIE Priminister had a nice long meeting with Mr george soros at the paris climate summit, I don't particularly care for the way the wind is blowing, hopefully Toronto and the rest of canada doesn't bury their heads in the sand unless they are looking for cold bottle of canadian on the beach.

I live just outside toronto, suburbs, my daughter lives right downtown, could see the parade from her window.

Ever since the police in toronto stopped racial profiling earlier this year the crime and murder rate has increased, especially with gangs and guns.

Actually the parade area is too narrow to do that.

Toronto pride is not just marchers, there are some pretty massive floats and other vehicles as well.

I have no idea why they weren't doused to oblivion with water guns, though.

you people are silly. obviously racism exist in america and there is a system built on it. blm does not represent "all"black people like Im assuming a group you are not part of does not represent you. I find when protest does not suit your interest it is a bad thing. such hypocrites here. im not so sure peaceful marching is a good way to get such important issues across considering the times we are in. blm is also lead mostly by women, most of them are feminist.

i think the original intentions were great but no it seems to serve more self interest. that being said we need groups like this to get people like you talking , therefore giving reason to why theses type of groups need to exist.

Your argument seems to boil down to ... you're offended by some things that BLM did, but not others because these BLM members were also LGBT.

No, my perspective does not boil down to what you suggest at all. Also, I'm not offended at all. However, I disagree with their approach.

BLM was invited in good faith by the Pride organizers as honorary guest, because that is what the Pride event stands for: unity - not exclusion. I feel that BLM should of just showed up and happily participated in the parade as part of the community just like other organizations, movements and corporations did. I don't agree with BLM using a joyous event that celebrates a sense of community along with embracing differences as a platform for their political agenda. BLM's tactics of disrupting the parade until their demands were met was not the best way of going about matters.

I agree with some of their ideas that I linked in my previous post. However, again I stress, these demands should of been discussed at some other time, and not as demands, but more as concerns, ideas or proposals . BLM should of arranged for a meeting with the Pride board members and organizers at a later date to go over their concerns.

Also, the only thing that offended me was the O.P's following thought highlighted in bold:

My previous comment was inspired and written with the mindset of negating the thought of BLM's actions as being completely disgusting. I felt the O.P was being a bit over dramatic. My entire thought process in my previous comment revolved around the above quote and not the story itself...

In my opinion, the Parade should have marched around them, and kept going.

We up here like to meet people half way and not add fuel to the fire. The approach the Pride organizer took was the most peaceful and quickest form of resolution.

The problem being that this is BLM Toronto

Toronto has had an unbelievably low 28 police shootings in the past 22 years in a population of 2.79 million with 7,900 police officers, making it one of the lowest police shoot-to-kill ratios in the world.

7 of those 28 were black and 5 of them there was a weapon found at the scene by the SIU and the officer was ruled justified to use force. One of the remaining two had one officer sent to jail for manslaughter and the remaining one is still under investigation.

Star for that comment. I agree with you that there is no need for BLM here in Toronto. First Nations people instead have more of reason for a movement across Canada and yet have taken a more productive and less controversial approach towards their concerns.

I find this particular demand regarding to exclude the police from the Pride event and their reasons for demanding it as ridiculous. Toronto Police are the most ethically diverse force in the world. Toronto is the most populated city in Canada with 6 million, if you include the Greater Toronto Area (4th largest in N. America,) and we don't have racial issues and violence concerning the police as some other nations. The police chief of the biggest city in Canada himself is Black...

BLM here are acting like idiots. Most of the Black community in Toronto don't want them to represent them.
