Predict the cause of the next world wide collapse/disaster/mass extermination event.

Many races believe that the creation of the Universe involved some sort of God, though the Jatravartid people of Viltvodle VI believe that the entire Universe was in fact sneezed out of the nose of a being known as the Great Green Arkleseizure. The Jatravartids live in perpetual fear of the time they call the Coming of the Great White Handkerchief, somewhat similar to the Apocalypse. However, the Great Green Arkleseizure theory is not widely accepted outside Viltvodle VI and so, the Universe being as wide and strange as it is, other explanations are constantly being sought by different races throughout the Galaxy.

The one I've been thinking about lately is a massive solar flare or Carrington event or EMP burst event. All wiring is fried. The electric grid goes down for a year or so. Initially, could be stuck 60+ miles away from home. No cars, no phone, no electricity, no communication. You could walk home. But that would realistically take about 30 hrs with breaks. Would you even make it? What if it was winter? Even if you made it, where would your family be? Would you have to start a new life right where you were at? Total societal and economical collapse.

This planet is a ticking time bomb. Anything you have mentioned except the monkeys could set it off. You could have a major earthquake in California that could have a serious butterfly effect. Anything could for the most part set the world off, except the monkeys..........monkeys are cool.

Actually it's crazy you ask that... I formulated that based off visions I had from air bubble moving around in my brain(severe concussion), clues to how the occult operate, the bible, little bit of alex jones, and lastly a mushroom trip I experienced(first time experience).

I like this one. No communication, no cash available, can't get gas, groceries, no public transportation, everything would come to a grinding halt and people would go crazy! Like two Winters ago in Boston when we had that massive snow-fall and no one knew what the hell to do. I worked at home for an entire month because there was little to no public transportation. I went to get gas in my car and the machines were down (gas stations / ATMs / Banks) no power for a couple of weeks, no supplies left in the stores... it was madness and this is just a tiny corner of the world and it wasn't even a real disaster!

I'll go with an asteroid, headed for our planet, that we locate prior to earth impact.

Society will break down within hours of the announcement.
It won't be an extinction level impact, but humans will treat each other barbarically, destroying civilization as we know it. Whomever survives impact gets to start over.

I guess they will continue with the affair of slow drowning the economics and huge things wont happen, yet many small changes, new reestablishments and the casual induced terror over the third world. Ofcourse surprises are understandable.

this is exactly what I feel could happen as well. water shortage, too. spoke to a climatologist who said it's pretty dire, especially in the middle east. i worry we'll be fighting for water, scary.

This is exactly why I chose my career. Water will be the next oil and they'll need people to treat it!
