Two explosions and shots fired !


An explosion and gunshots have been heard at Ataturk Airport in the Turkish capital, local media is reporting.

Several people have been wounded in the blast at Istanbul's main international airport, broadcaster NTV has said.

Taxis were ferrying the wounded from the hospital, witnesses told CNN Turk.

Possible 2nd attack going on now

CNN Turk is now talking to someone who has just reported a second attack just now. People are scrambling apparently, hiding in closets, etc.

Because we opened the floodgates. It's always been the goal of radical jihadists to bring war to the West. Even though Turkey is as far East as the West gets.

I'd suspect Kurds but it could be either.

At least 10 dead, 40+ wounded Turkish media is reporting.

Initial gunfire could have been airport security tackling the suspects before they self detonated, however there's pictures of what looks like a kalashinikov rifle lying in the airport.

At least ten reported killed.

It must take a special kind of courage to engage a suicide bomber in the midst of a crowded airport. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Speculation on it being PKK but it's in the international terminal and they typically haven't struck civilian Western targets. Whereas ISIS just did that, at an airport, in Brussels, a few months ago.

Maybe European intelligence has disrupted cells sufficiently that this is the closet they could get?
