Boris is just as much a twat as Cameron, Gideon and Corbyn.....

I think the uncertainty is great....time to start pushing for reform of our electoral and parliamentary systems and procedures.

Ten years ago no-one would have predicted a UK exit from the EU - who knows what we will see ten years from now, from small acorns and all that.

Shame that by then it seems Scotland and all its great heritage will have disappeared and will have become a small, insignificant irrelevance in the EU behemoth with absolutely zero ability to govern itself.

If Scotland does decide to leave the UK and go with the EU I for one will be sad, but as has been said before....you get the government you deserve.

Personally I'm sick of the whining, whinging, hateful bigotry I hear from lots of Scots - you attempt to belittle and smear England and its people at every opportunity and blame it / them for all of Scotland's woes.
The bigotry and all consuming hatred that seems to consume you and some like you must be so wearisome.

You and the EU deserve each other.

Good luck with all that, the powers you now have with Holyrood will be looked upon as some sort of Halcyon Days as you fade away into total obscurity in the EU hinterland.

Scotland may want to be in the EU but does the EU want Scotland , Spain has in the past said it would veto the move due to concerns over want away region of Catalonia.

We may be stuck with each other.

Demand...ha ha ha ha.

A bit of advice....the tail doesn't wag the dog, not in the real world.

Remember last time?

And all recent opinion polls, granted for what good they are, suggest that support for independence has actually gone down in Scotland.

Imagine how humiliating it would be if you go to the polls again and yet again the NO campaign won.
I think I would actually piss myself laughing.

If you want independence then go for it....even people like me who have genuine regard and respect for Scotland and its people really don't give a toss anymore...your whining, whinging, bigoted hatefulness has worked.

a very good point.

the sturgeon salmond camp will need to apply to the eu for membership, accept the terms and conditions of membership
after forcing their way from the uk majority consensus.

will the English parliament allow such a transition and allow the use of gbp in the meantime?

such is the ever expanding quagmire.

Thing is they will not get a referendum for at least a year because w have other stuff to sort out first and then by that time they will see more cracks appear in the EU (possible other nations leaving) and they will beg to stay in the UK.
I think we hold a referendum to see If we want them in

This explains a lot.

www.bbc.co.uk...

About Scotland being given special status to just join...

But would they? Politically, would they? It seems probable that the old objections would arise. That member states like Spain and Belgium would not want to encourage special status for Scotland which might, in very different circumstances, be demanded by their own autonomous provinces.

150 Irish, Scots and Englishmen and women, Poets, Doctors, school teachers and great thinkers took on a empire in 1916. 5 years later the mighty Empire capitulated and Ireland became independent. It's not about the size of the dog in the fight but about the size of the fight in the dog..... And timing.

If you want independence then go for it....even people like me who have genuine regard and respect for Scotland and its people really don't give a toss anymore...your whining, whinging, bigoted hatefulness has worked.

My Job is done then. You have your agenda. I have mine. And if mere words on the internet forums like this can change people's opinions and track of thought then so be it...Welcome to the New Revolution. Not a bullet nor a bomb. Soar Alba

it is down to special status and the satisfaction of eu criteria for it to happen after the breakaway. could upset some eu states.

The thing is, I would always vote for Scotland to stay in the UK - as a rule of thumb I like the Scottish people and I love going up there to visit my friends.
But its not really up to us....if they want to go then go, I just wish they'd quit their whining and bigotry and get on with it.

And Northern Ireland will ALWAYS remain part of the UK as long as the majority of people who live there wish to remain so.
If there is a genuine need for a referendum, as in Scotland last year, then yes they too should have the Right to Self-Determination.

What annoys me with the Nats is their delusions that everything will be on their terms.
Sturgeon wants to keep the pound, keep The Queen and have open borders and free trading with rUK but also wants independence whilst remaining in the EU, an EU that openly states it wants Brussels to have authority over all national elected assemblies and has zero regard for nationhood.
Its absolute, total and utter bollocks and I'm amazed that even the most bigoted and hate driven Nats like Solo can't see it for what it really is.

But who cares, its all England and those English bastards fault.

At last the penny drops. That's the Referendum you should have had last Thursday. Now we are getting somewhere.

Do have the popcorn ready for the coming weeks or months, this is going to be interesting!

While the EU is ready to start with the brexit, England seems to have second thoughts about it?
Cameron did not activate art50, instead he resigned, Boris said it can wait but no sane investor is going to invest in England so lang there is question of a possible brexit and maybe not even for a certain period after the brexit.
The waiting game is going to hurt the economy even more than the referendum already has.

I must admit I was being more of an ass than usual with regards to that statement. I myself have good dealings with the Scottish (grew up with a bunch and time served in shipyard). good solid guys and their hens!

it would be a shame to break up but it seems almost inevitable.

Solo, the only agenda you have is driven by bigotry and hatred....a bigotry and hatred of people you don't know and who have done nothing harmful to you at all.

Personally I'd hate to be so consumed with such negativity - it really must be trying.

You wrap your bigotry and hatred up in your Saltire and some romantic notion of Scottish independence - the reality will be oblivion under the EU and all thoughts of nationhood and independence will disappear as you become part of the globalised agenda.

There are moves afoot to never press the button on article 50, but to instead use parliament to repeal the 1972 Europe act that would, at a single stroke, remove us from the EU without any of the dangers of being "punished" or having terms imposed upon us.

I think there is a fair bit going on beyond what is simply on the news.

If people outside the UK have any doubts about how fractured this country is, they need only to consider this thread. And this is replicated a thousand times across British social media this weekend.

Time for a parting of the ways for Scotland & England, I think, the whole thing is simply beyond fixing. Neither country can flourish with this nonsense going on any longer. It's corrupting the political discourse, embittering otherwise decent people and destroying friendships. It's brought down the PM, destroyed the parliamentary opposition and will surely bring down the government.

I've never known such a chaotic situation in my life, the UK is virtually leaderless, only Sturgeon seems to have a grasp on the situation and she's taking full advantage, hardly surprising, Cameron hasn't been heard from all weekend & his best bud the Chancellor has simply disappeared like snow off a dyke.

Hell, it's got to be bad when one of the more sensible suggestions this weekend is to re-unify Ireland.
