Oh, really? Is that why here in Quebec we had a cold spell in the middle of May, with temperatures 10° C below average, and even a snowfall which persisted for over 12 hours?

Or why it's only 17° C in Paris?

Or was it warm only in areas where no one lives, so that no one can prove the claim false?

Well they're damn right about Alaska.

Alaska had its warmest spring on record by a "wide margin",.....

So this is your justification for raising taxes because it's hot outside?

Surely the point is: just because a Govt using global warming as an excuse to raise taxes, does not mean that global warming is not occurring

The Moon orbits the earth also.

Perhaps they should raise taxes on us with that.

If they did, the moon wouldn't suddenly be fake.

Quick! There was a strong El Nino and it made things hot! We have to capitalize on this with taxes for all! How dare they have money we don't get to spend ...

Taxes are not a solution.

Not at all. It is something that occurs naturally and something that man has no impact on.

Worth noting that whilst "May 2016 was the highest for May in the 137-year period of record, at 0.87°C (1.57°F) above the 20th century average of 14.8°C (58.6°F), besting the previous record set in 2015 by 0.02°C (0.04°F). May 2016 marks the 13th consecutive month a monthly global temperature record has been broken—the longest such streak since global temperature records began in 1880." it was also "the lowest monthly temperature departure from average since August 2015 - as the effects of El Nino decline

Finland also have rather cold start for summer, most certainly not hottest month.
I dont trust NASA and others whom spread these lies with straight face.. Money signs in their eyes and what not.

btw as I always say, death occurs naturally. Does this mean humans do not also cause deaths? Or can a naturally occurring event also be affected by humans? Some say yes, others deny the possibility .....

We are talking about May, not June
May was warm in Finland

Edit: very warm. 3-5c above normal!

But CO2 is real, human activity is adding it to the atmosphere and it's having a real effect. It must be nice having the logic of a 5 year old. I'd like to believe that a bandage makes my boo boos go away.

Really? I was outdoors quite a bit in the month of May ... and I found it to 'feel' cooler than any May I can remember.

Now if they said yesterday was the hottest day in June ... I might not have been able to argue. And, I have the sunburn to prove it.

But May?? ... I'm calling BullSh!t

Didn't realize I was speaking to a climate specialist who "settled the science".

Apologies, Doctor.

Just adding my perspective to the thread. If we had 7 billion others ... then we'd really know, wouldn't we?

I guess 'til that happens we're gonna take NASA's word for it? 'Cause they obviously (and routinely) communicate with a full 97% of the scientists on this planet ... but never polled me even once? LOL

There's that tremendous logic again. Climate science is pretty basic and here you are a man of science completely unable to grasp it because of tax.
