I'd love to tell you mate, but the fact is, i do not know. It is a radio competition in which im trying to win, pretty hard times here atm, family car has recently shat itself, and we need to get the kids to school and sport. A portion of the prize will go on a 2nd hand car for us, and a portion will go to one of my fellow members if they can help me guess it.

Each morning at 6:55am they take around 6 callers, but starting just this last monday gone at 8am they are taking another 6 or so. This competition has been going on since xmas last year. Goes up $20 bux a day, and is now up to just over 9K.

A clue has been given when each 1k mark has been reached hence the 10 clues..... gave us 1 to start with, but i didnt pay attention to this competition until around Feb this year, thinking how hasn't anybody guessed this thing yet.

So now it has got me by the balls and its bugging me to no end.

yeah, me too. I though it was a pay phone but a caller mention that a few weeks back, actually its been said a few times.

I take it that everyone having a guess hasn't heard or paid attention to previous guesses, but i have heard most of them.

Thanks mate! Haven't checked messages yet but I will shortly. Well damn...I literally just locked and unlocked my own deadbolt and that's the sound...except yours is a bit more metallic sounding. It actually sounds exactly like a metal vault door being unlocked on this video game I used to play called Fallout 2. A tumbler in a metal door.

You're in Australia, the "great navigator" of Australia is Flinders. Are there any sounds related to him, or related to monuments dedicated to him?

Checked sound cloud for that sound, no go, and i dont have a xerox laying around to cross reference.

I did try calling in with a Beer bottle capper used in home brew applications, using the cheers to the great navigator and You dont have to be a Master Thief....but got declined
