Yep, I have decided that the best way to have peace on Earth is to stop making and selling fully automatic weapons. Now some folks have them already, and I don't think we can do anything about them, so they can just keep them. If they sell them, there needs to be a lot of paperwork and cost associated, so we can keep them from the general public. But no more. No more will we have to worry about little Johnny walking up to Wal Mart and buying a machine gun. Even the gun shops won't be able to sell them to the general public without a lot of hoops to go through.

I Hope that everyone here can come together and agree on this, then perhaps, we can focus on important things like reducing our danger of being attacked by terrorists. Thanks for your support.

I propose that we create a government program that is so massive,so bloated, so corrupt it robs from the greedy and gives to the so called needy, and GIVES everyone a free machine gun.

I reject your proposal and offer my own.

-Pay a tax of $200, which in 1934 was worth over $3,500
-Fill out a lengthy application to register your gun with the federal government
-Submit photographs
-Submit passport photos
-Get your chief law enforcement official to sign your application
-Wait for the results of your background check to come back

Wal-Mart never sold machine guns.
Gun shops cannot sell you machine guns unless they are liscensed too
Lengthy process with tons of paper work is already in place. The thing about it is, you have to pay for the gun and everything up front first, if your background does not come up clean or there is a problem with you papers the sheriff keeps all the dough and the machine gun is kept by the dealer or the cops, go figure.

Great idea! Allow me to get into my time machine and travel back to 1986...

Aaaand I'm back.

Done. I decided to call it the Firearms Owners' Protection Act (because that will fool even the most ardent gun rights supporter!)

Just like that, fully automatic machine guns are illegal and nobody can buy one at Wal-Mart!

(nicely done with your post, by the way, very subtle, I couldn't be quite so subtle)

The Swiss model wouldn't even fly in the states.

Have you guys seen the regulations they have?

Sounds like a plan. Give every American a machine gun. What could possibly go wrong?

Let me know when the bullets stop flying and the dust settles. Oh, wait... You'll most likely be dead along with the majority of the country.

You reap what you sow.

I see what you did there...

You know what's sad about this? This will likely draw all manner of applause from people who have no clue about firearms or the applicable laws and who don't know what you're really doing here.

Nope, and furthermore, nope.

Once that door is opened it will only lead to banning the rest. Sorry, a disarmed populace is a subservient class with no standing.

When are folks going to realize the importance of the 2nd Amendment!!!???
Why the freak do you think it's in the Constitution in the number 2 spot!!!??

No one is going to give up their guns. Get used to it for Pete's sake!! Geezus...

You mean the fact that Walmart never sold assault weapons to begin with? I mean, as far as I know, one has to jump through a copious amount of legal hurdles and hoops to legally acquire the means of owning such a weapon.

In that I mean to say, Walmart has never sold full auto firearms.
