Intellectual honesty are rare finds in today's post intellectualism society, we are swinging into an emotionally driven society with no connection to thought only feeling.

It's the two working together that manifest the desired result

I comply with the T&C on name issues.

But I'm disappointed about that rule.

I think it's a GREAT shorthand way of characterizing some of the traitorous tyrants ruling the land.

It depicts in an instant some of their worst traits, habits, goals, values.

Social Justice Warrior.

You know... someone like Jesus giving the money changers a spot of activism.

Ahhhhh . . . but . . . uhhhh . . .

HE had perfect righteous judgment.

I don't think others qualify in that dept.

Thanks.

Thanks, onequestion. Name-calling does nothing to further intelligent arguments. It is basically just a tool to dismiss someone without even understanding them.

This may be true in certain cases, but I don't feel like it is generally true.

I don't think people expect others to just take it and shut up. But when debating it would be nice if one could expect anything other than ad-hominem attacks. The big R word to me is racist, it has become a way to shut up critics, whether they are racist or not. It's very similar to calling everybody that criticises Israel anti-semites, it's a way to shut up discussion and most of the time the accusations are unfounded.

Of course they're free to be offended, I just think it's unproductive and even pathological when these people are offended by everything - generally everything they disagree with. It's an ideology that is breeding emotionally volatile people and I don't think this is a coincidence, I don't think it's a coincidence that almost all major institutions of power under the control of the globalist elite is pushing this message either. It's a perversion of true liberal values, the ideas the youngest of these liberals are pushing are increasingly out of touch with reality.

They're free to be offended of course, but I think it's safe to say that their ideology is full of lies, irrational, pathological, and even dangerous. Don't tell me they're not a problem when they want to openly censor free speech, that is a dangerous and all too common sentiment.

I think making it out like both sides here act the same is disingenuous. And morally superior? These peoples views are all based around the notion of being morally superior, I would go as far as to say that the foundation of the ideology itself feeds on self-righteousness. These people want to show everybody how sensitive to everyone's plight they are, how much they care and how good people they are. The other side of the coin of course is telling everybody who doesn't agree how intolerant and horrible people they are.

No.. I don't think reacting to insanity is the same as being insane. It is getting caught up in the division and the dog and pony show though. Problem, reaction, solution. The problem is, the problem in this equation is very real and ignoring it can be hazardous. Just because you're aware of a manipulation doesn't mean that you won't get caught up in its negative effects.

Anymore words I shouldn't use because it offends you?

The OP is getting a taste of what it's like being on the opposite end of the coin.

I think the anti-SJW are getting as annoying as the people their rallying against.
Kinda like how I view militant atheists.

It's not the word that's offensive, it's that entire arguments get dismissed with "you're just a snowflake, f off". It dehumanizes the person you're arguing against and completely avoids any intelligent conversation. It happens in the political threads too (in fact, that's where it started) when you dismiss someone by calling them Crooked Hillary or Lying Ted, instead of looking at the actual underlying argument.

Calling people SJW's or snowflakes just makes intelligent conversation that much less intelligent.

Are you people comparing social justice warriors to Jesus? What a joke.

This is a social justice warrior, comparing them to Jesus is blasphemy and I'm not a Christian. What an insult, what a blasphemous lie.

Last fall at Oberlin College, a talk held as part of Latino Heritage Month was scheduled on the same evening that intramural soccer games were held. As a result, soccer players communicated by email about their respective plans. “Hey, that talk looks pretty great,” a white student wrote to a Hispanic student, “but on the off chance you aren’t going or would rather play futbol instead the club team wants to go!!”

Unbeknownst to the white student, the Hispanic student was offended by the email. And her response signals the rise of a new moral culture America.

Ok. 1. Thanks for you thinking that the talk is “pretty great”. I appreaciate your white male validation. I see that it isn’t interesting enough for you to actually take your ass to the talk. 2. Who said it was ok for you to say futbol? It’s Latino Heritage Month, your telling people not to come to the talk, but want to use our language? Trick NO! White students appropriating the Spanish language, dropping it in when convenient, never ok. Keep my heritage language out your mouth! If I’m not allowed to speak it, if my dad’s not allowed to speak it, then bitch you definitely are not supposed to be speaking it. Especially in this context.

She also published the email that he sent to the white student:

1. Your not latino, call it soccer. You don’t play futbol. Futbol is played with people (LATINO) who know how to engage in community soccer, as somebody who grew up on the cancha (soccer field) I know what playing futbol is, and the way you take up space, steal the ball, don’t pass, is far from how my culture plays ball.

2. I’m not playing intramural once again this semester because you and your cis-dude, non passing the ball, stealing the ball from beginners, spanish-mocking, white cohort has ruined it (for the second time). Unless I find another team you won’t be seeing me.

3. I don’t care if this email is over the top or mean. So complain to whatever white friends you want about it. You’re never going to know what its like to not be able to your own heritage sport comfortably because of your gender/race/ethnicity.

Yeah, social justice.. or the art of turning everything a white person says into a reason to bash them. I'm aghast at the irony in that these people don't recognise that they are creating an environment that is expressly hostile to white people. These people should be booted out of college, they don't have the intelligence needed if they're this incredibly myopic. They'll only damage society if they pursue a job that depends on their intellect. I mean these people have zero self-distance, they're like mindless caricatures, only they're far too real.

These people aren't truly warriors for social justice, they're borderline psychotic, aggressive and entitled brats. They're the living embodiment of useful idiots.

Progressives are starting to flirt with solipsism.. it's true if they want it to be true, maybe solipsism is the wrong word here, maybe we need to coin a new one.

I believe that the bar on this site is the highest of any place I know, to raise it higher would not encourage debate, but rather stifle it.

Words are just words.

The bar on ATS is lower than the comments section of a news article.

Ok so we may as well just strike out the sun as it offends my eyes !

I think we need to put an end to people being so offended by words because otherwise the human race will result in some weak species who is offended by everything

how are we meant to survive in the harsh universe that cares not for words or if humans have bruised emotions and damaged ego's
these offended humans are going to be passing on the snowflake gene and turn us into a species of cowering pathetic genuflecting idiots

THIS

The worst thing about political discussion is it gets played out in macros. Its all prerecorded, with the masses simply regurgitating either what is en meme, or is a talking point from the days news cycle. You cannot talk outside of this macro'd conversation with these people because invariably they will just resort to calling you a "liberal" or a "conservative", thus sweeping you under their macro'd broad brushes.

This snowflake meme gives me a variety of feelings. The strongest is my embarrassment for the person using the term. I am embarrassed for them, and the incredibly small bottleneck their mind seems to be working through. Then I pity them a little for having this problem. More and more I am seeing disgust creeping in, because its been so overused and misapplied in such a massive fashion in a short amount of time, making difficult conversation impossible. Then I have dread, realizing that this is the new reality. Im trapped here on this planet.

Which group is it that seems to have the propensity for using "snowflake" as an insult?

I'm thick skinned enough to take the name calling. As a proud card carrying "people like you" it has lost it's impact. However this trashy behavior isn't doing the reputation of ATS any favors, quashes debate, and discourages the very thing ATS wants to accomplish.

You use "snowflake" as a term of endearment...not insults.

Motive and context....
