New Electronic Card Reader For Civil Forfeiture - Policing For Profits

One of the greatest creations in mankind is the United States Constitution. One of my favorite portions of the constitution is fourth amendment and the protections provided against unlawful search and seizure.

Civil Forfeiture undermines these protections, and is in flagrant violation of our constitutional rights. Civil Forfeiture is the practice of state and federal law enforcement that gives them the ability to seize any property or money that is used in the act of a crime. This has been expanded since it's inception to include simply acting suspiciously, or not having a good enough "reason" to give police for why you are in your car traveling, or why you have a couple thousand dollars of cash on you.

This has been used and abused to the highest levels. This happens on a daily basis here, and it has gotten out of control. Police pull you over for whatever reason they see fit, and then confiscate your cash, and impound your car. Once this happens, you have to prove your innocence. All of these things happen before you see a judge, before you are charged, and without any type of due process. Even after you do prove your innocence, the chances of you getting your cash back are slim to none, and cant takes months and even YEARS to win your case.

Here is the dark secret: THE POLICE GET A CUT OF THE MONEY!!! That's right, the law enforcement officer gets a commission. They divide the money up between the cops involved in the form of a bonus, and then the rest goes to the department. This is the definition of policing for profit, and it is disturbing that we allow this to happen in our country.

And here is the REALLY bad news. The racket is now moving into the digital age. Now, if you get pulled over, the cops can swipe all of your bank cards and drain your accounts.This new device is called ERAD, and is currently in use by the Oklahoma State Patrol. Welcome to tyranny folks. Try not to get pulled over!!!
