I would have thought that the introduction of this particular curriculum shows intelligent forward thinking by the school. After all gender identity is not going to go away so the children need to be taught understanding of human diversity. That way they don't grow to be ignorant bullies against all gender types.

No, this is not forward thinking. It is regressive and confusing to a young child.

Ignorance is not an attractive quality.

I agree with that last statement, but the target is (as you may guess) not the same people you are referring to.

Gender Identity is a sham. It is psycho babble. It is a mental delusion.

Oh, sweet Jeeezuz gawd, they're teachin' our kids stuff we don't unnerstan!

Ah, yes, the lazy way out.

Obviously, anyone who disagrees with you and this must be dumb! Of course, that just makes you feel all good and enlightened and special ...

*yawn*

Yes, dumb. It's actually the worst kind of dumb. It's the kind that says "Not only do I not want to risk growing my worldview but I'm also going to try and keep the next generation from thinking things I don't understand". It's dangerous. Just spending ten minutes on this site, you will see the effects of people raised to not allow their world views to be challenged.

So do I feel enlightened and special? Damn straight I do. I think we all should.

Our world view?

You mean the worldview that we don't agree with teaching five years olds about gender spectrum and why if you have a penis it doesn't mean your a boy?

God please send your meteor as quickly as possible.

I think this is the sort of thinking that indicates a closed mind.

I understand that some people feel they are another gender trapped in the wrong body.

Fine.

I don't think it is proper to teach this before children are even learning about sex. I think we live in a hyper-sexualized society and that children should be children and allowed to simply be. They have only a few short years before they have to really worry about that, and they should be allowed to more or less enjoy it. To me, that is why it's illegal to marry a child or have sex with them, and this issue of teaching them sexual education and gender studies before their hormones are even really going is starting that process off prematurely.

It is taking away that innocence of childhood.

I mean, if we want kids to be kids and act as much as possible as if they're all kids, then why are we breaking our necks to shove it into their skulls how much they're all different with gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. It seems to me that we are racing to foist off the problems of our generation onto them before they should ever have to be aware of it.

ROFL it does not matter. People with your mental illness will always not only be such an insignificant minority, but will always be ostracized, harassed, and looked down upon especially when the loudest of you are forcing children to believe and accept outright lies of the biological existence of and standards of human.

the only thing these actions accomplish is that when the man on his throne in the White House is no longer your friend, the backlash will come back times ten. Wait and see .... there is a purge coming.

For a social agenda.

This is about social engineering plain and simple.

Well that's one myopic and extremely limited way to say it.

Another way is to say that I mean the worldview that says it is important for children to understand others and the challenges some of their peers may face. It's not like teaching this will make it more prevalent, it just makes them understand what they encounter when they encounter it.

What does sex have to do with it?

Great teach them that people are different they shouldn't judge others and leave it that no need to narrow it down to gender studies.

Those words get repeated every generation but the target just shifts.

And what the hell? A "purge"?! God dammit, we have some sick sociopaths on this site.

You want to ban bathroom breaks? How about recess? Lunch? P.E.? Music? Art? Ban all those things, and that will allow maximum time for adding/subtracting, reading, writing. You will have one stressed out kid though.

I found that when teaching my daughter, we only needed about 3 hours a day to cover all the core subjects, including French. The only "after school" work she does is some evening reading, with some additional evening and weekend time spent on fun stuff like music/art/photography. Yeah, and I still have time to discuss social issues with her.

I was reading about the school system in Norway (I think- one of those Scandinavian countries). They have zero homework, and they only teach core classes about 2 1/2 or 3 hours a day. The rest of the school day is dedicated to play. They are doing a lot better than the U.S. on education scores. You do not need to spend 8 hours a day on math/reading/writing.

Here we go take things way out of context to prove your previously illogical and we'll refuted point.

You have to explain to them why they are one biological sex but then think you another gender. That of course, leads to what sex is. They are already pushing to begin basic sex ed as young as kindergarten too.

Basically, boys have a penis and girls have a vagina, but then you have to intersectionalize for you "gender" types ... so I have no idea how you teach a bunch of kindergartners that matrix without really confusing them.

Because you are GOING to have them say, but I have a peepee it means I am a boy. Or I have a hooha, I am a girl. You will have to socially decondition that in your kindergarten engineering (indoctrinating) which will be operating against everything parents will have done. And how many "gender" types will they educate? And how will it be explained what the peepee and hooha mean them without going into sex?

Is this supposed to make things better for transgender kids?

Because I see it making things worse... much worse.

I think those things are part of the traditional curriculum, but I would think you would potentially be sacrificing one of them to add this or sacrificing time spend on the basics to add this. Which do you think produces a better educated kid? One who has had PE or one who knows gender identity? One who has had art or one who has had gender identity? One who spent that extra time on the basics or one who knows gender identity. No matter how you shape it up, you have to push something else out to make room for this.

You found when homeschooling? So you are trying to compare a strictly one on one situation with a classroom setting? That's about apples to oranges. One teacher with 20 kids of varying levels of energy, interest, and ability will not at all cover the same material in the same amount of time that you will with one kid who happens to be your kid.

And how involved are Norway's parents compared to ours? Perhaps they have higher rates of parental involvement. You said yourself that parental involvement is our problem, not anything else. So ... I don't see how you have answered your own issue that you raised any only thrown out Norway. So what?

Because Norway is a nation of super-involved parents doesn't mean anything. If our own nation was super-involved, maybe we could adopt our own system of all day play education. Until then, I invite you to go teach in an inner city school and tell me how well all day play education will work.

What's out of context? How was it "we'll" refuted?

You really need to work on your debating skills (and your spelling).

Teaching kids about something they probably don't understand themselves. I think people should be able to do what they want BUT a man can NEVER truly be a woman, he cant have a baby and a woman can never be a man because she will NEVER have a functioning penis,,,,AND I SYMPATHIZE WITH THEM. BUT, it may be a self fulfilling delusion that becomes a process that can never achieve true happiness either way. I do think some people SHOULD have been born the opposite sex but all this is my opinion, whatever makes people happy.
