It's the progressive left's fault that a lot of foods in Australia apparently have Halal labels? Don't the food producers do this to increase the size of their customer bases?

No, lies. How is certified halal water, sugar, milk, coffee, sanitary products, et al, cater to a global market.

Effing Cadbury Chocolate is now halal.

Why should WE pay for a thing that goes no where else, to satisfy your minority.

Vegemite. Made from spent yeast. that makes beer. Halal.

And there are 13 organisations here to certify, and one, halal australia, with mohammo elmouelhy, has become a millionaire from this - he BRAGS about it.

give me a break. the apathy is sickening.

Halal isn't a big deal
OH, yes it is, if Australia, and i would think most western nations, wish to "export" their food products around the world they have to produce halal certification at the point of entry. The muslim organisation in Aust make millions every year with this scam.

It sounds like there is now more choice instead of less.

But as a for being afraid to "offend Islam", it is more about being afraid of the subsequent response to offending Islam, which ranges from nothing to murder.

What the efing double eff?

MORE CHOICE? can I sell fish and chips in saudi arabia now? Is that what you mean?

We are forced to pay for things we otherwise buy, that Muslims do not.

eff me sideways..

Because we are living in the time of political correctness and if you have an opinion about something that goes against the majority of retards these days you are a racist bigot etc.
a reply to: Annunak1

Exactly. The same goes for speaking out about reverse discrimination. Politicians and the media don't want to offend anyone because politicians want to be re-elected and the media doesn't want to lose ratings.

The only option, that we have been ostracised for here, is to boycott.

And I have been. And I will do. I will *NOT* pay for islam to fund itself off non-muslims, on the foods I eat or the products I buy.

You idiots can do what you want.

Great point mate. Unfortunately we consumers must pay for all this halal crap. The manufacturers want to increase export where they can and MUST have export certification. Muslim money making scam that is legal...

It's not fear of insulting Islam. Most of the West is multicultural, we have lots of different cultures, skin tones, religions, genders and sexual preferences, none of these are basis for discrimination. Many of us speak in defense against hyperbole, stereotypes and hate so that our societies remain open to all.

Rather than focusing on halal meat and terrorists we should be addressing something far more sinister. In the UK there has been a major shift from 'equality of opportunity' to 'equality of outcome'. In simple terms this boils down to meeting quotas regardless of merit. This is WRONG and needs to be vehemently fought against (without violence). A true egalitarian would view this with disdain.

What?

Sounds a lot like the myth that Muslims are trying to change Western Law by requesting Sharia courts. Sharia courts have no legal standing anywhere in the West and are used for arbitration the same way that Rabbinical and Christian courts are.

Because Islam has gone from 0 in 610 AD to 1.x billion today without retreat from conquered territory. And the procedure has been infiltration, then mass attack on non Muslims, submission for the survivors, or death. Period. that creates occult fear in all non muslims.

Period.

Equality of outcome has always been a left wing principle.

Some European countries are proposing giving free monthly allowances to their citizens, called UBI (universal basic income).

I don't think we are afraid of islam when we speak out. I always speak out against islam and other religions, as I completely disagree with all of them and I have the right to.
The reason nobody really dares speaking out is that when we do, two things happen:

1. Someone up their own backside will be calling us exaggerated and unfounded names, such as racist or bigot. Even if we are none of these things in life and only speak out against islam [which isn't even racist].

2. The more public we speak out, the more likely we'll receive death threads from some of the easily offended muslims. That puts most people off. Ask Salman Rushdie, how it is to live with a fatwa on their head, just because he wrote a book...

I am not scared of islam but there is no way on earth I want it to even take hold of a small part of any western country. The reason is the believers. Whilst most muslims [yawn, because this should be obvious] are just people like you and me and just want to go about their daily life, there are those that take it all far too seriously.

I understand that YOU may believe it but the lack of understanding that others are not obliged to believe in the same thing and still have a right to live in peace is often missing.
I know that christians can be a pain in the butt, when they desperately try and convert you but islam is not only trying to convert but to actively dismiss unbelievers as non humans rather than say "I'll pray for you" like christians [who seem to be the least worst of two annoyances].

Knowing that the majority of people seem to be quite easily led when it comes to religion, I AM worried that they will follow islam just as easily as they may follow christianity or any other religion.

How do people think that islam got foothold in the first place in areas on this globe that were either pagan or christian or whatever before they turned up and 'convinced' the people to believe in their religion?
Yes, the same as christianity...but as I said, better the devil you know.

It's gullible people who will be easily swayed. Especially women. There are so many converts already. Women who wrap themselves up and live a highly religious life, because a male muslim shows them attention and makes them feel good.
There are thousands of women like that.

Last but not least what people never seem to believe is that when you meet singular muslims or live in an area where they are the minority, they will be the nicest people on earth.
When you work with them, they will be just like everyone else.

However in an area with muslim majority, things suddenly change. This is a FACT and no I can't prove it with data, it's personal experience and actually having a chat with some muslims and especially ex-muslims.

Mind you, the same will probably hold true for all believers of any religion. And that is why I will stay FAR away from religious types of all sorts; and especially islam [because lets face it, the consequences of not liking this particular religion are far more dangerous than taking the pee out of 'good old' christians].

I don't want to live in fear. Not of any gods, nor of people who believe in them.

I am a non believer of any religious gods and I live a good, honest life. It is possible when you have natural integrity. Anyone who tries to convince me otherwise is giving me hassle and I am so glad we live in an almost secular country. Lets keep it that way or we will never advance as a species.

You feel offended when that bacon hasn't been touched properly? Well, ok. Must be a cultural gap or something, now get your salty hands off my meat!

Pawed bacon is a fricken disgrace, kinda funny in a disgusting way though. Good thing is I'm not hungry anymore, thank you!

it might just be me but im watching all my values being threatened to appease even apparently moderate muslims

My values are threatened all the time - by people that think that it's OK to demonize other people so they can foist their values on everyone else

It gets a little old

If you can't even eat a piece of cheese because somebody else prayed over it? I don't even know where to begin...

halaal, is any object or action which is permissible to use or engage in, according to Islamic law.

The OPs complaint is obviously a symptom of a wider concern. The OP title made that explicit. You are nit-picking.

No, I actually read the OP, which was entirely about Halal foods in Australia. That's what we normally call misleading titles or "clickbait".
