Study: Mass produced antibodies kill HIV in newborn monkeys in 2 weeks

Human antibodies that were mass produced in a lab have eliminated HIV from newborn monkeys, a new study showed. Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University were stunned by the results, published in Nature Medicine.

Not only did the antibodies work in each instance to eliminate the virus that causes AIDS, the therapy was also quick, clearing the virus from the body within two weeks. "We're very excited about this study because we think it opens some doors for alternative therapies that could be used to prevent infection in babies and children," said Nancy Haigwood, the lead investigator and head of the OHSU primate center. This is the first time human antibodies have been used in this way, Haigwood said.

Researchers have also tried administering antiretroviral drugs to attack a new infection, but those experiments have failed, she said. Antiretroviral drugs are given to pregnant women who are HIV positive to prevent them from transmitting the virus to their babies, but the drugs are expensive and not widely available in parts of the world where HIV is rampant. Haigwood said the trial of antibody therapy, which was tested in rhesus macaques, was so successful that the approach could be tried in humans in South Africa or elsewhere where the mother-to-child transmission rate of HIV is high.

More than 200,000 children were born with HIV worldwide in 2013, according to the United Nations children's organization, UNICEF. Without therapy, one-third of infected newborns die by their first birthday. Half don't make it to their second, the agency said.

Note I hope this will work unsure about post count for creating various topics or if anyone can make them I am not a proffesional. I am unsure if this is the right forum or amount of content it needs upfront apology if something is not right

That is a great find. If successful, it would save many, many lives.

But....But.... what will all those researchers and doctors do now. They will need to invent a new problem that needs urgent attention so they can keep working. Zika just won't cut the cake, maybe they will say that cancer is a communicable disease and they need to find a way to immunize against it.

Well its great that they found a possible cure , but in the US there will be no cure for anything unless it starts to infect everybody. There is no money made in cures.

This is excellent news, but not a cure: if it works with human babies as well as it did with macaques, then it can stop mothers infecting their babies with HIV which is incredible. What is also great is that clinical trials with human babies have begun in South Africa and the US, so we'll soon know how well it works.

This study has also shown that injecting antibodies is a very succesful way of clearing the virus, which may open the doors to try the same technique with other types of viruses. But, it does not cure HIV.

I haven't heard of this study until you posted here, one of the reasons why this forum is good! However, I alwasy look for the original study as magazines/news articles have the habit of twisting things to sell. This is great news, fingers crossed it will also work with babies.

HIV is not an illness, is a bio-neurological manipulation invented by the EU (mostly by the Italian government and presidents Cossiga,Scalfaro,Ciampi,Napolitano and Mattarella). In other words is an neurologically induced condition that was invented by the EU secret services to create an overall scare and to kill their political enemies.
HIV does not need a cure, because as soon as the EU secret services ends the manipulation, the conditions of malfunctioning immune system ceases to exist.

The virus that media and some fake scientists try to convince you to be blamed for HIV is obviously a false flag. They picked some picture of a virus to show on the news, and tried to convince people that it is actually a HIV.

The media and politicians attempt to revive this scare show every now and then when they are facing a political collapse catastrophe in their hand, but it really tends to die down much faster than during the early 90s.

*Blink*

AHAHAHAHAHA, oh you are so full of it.

You don't need to be a Doctor or a specialist to see the structure of the virus.

Oh, damn, the dumb is so real here.

You do know there is available tools on the market that regular people can buy to examine a virus, yes? You can even do it in a College, a University, even a high end equipped High School or Private School, Private lab.

"Just picking a random photo of a virus" is the funniest crap I have ever heard in my life, hell you could probably get your local Pathologist to get you a nice little image of the HIV virus.

You could do it with a mid end microscope yourself, and even see the full structure of the virus with an Electron Microscope.

Holy hell I can't believe the dumb in that post.

Nearly every University has a Lab, there are a lot of labs and universities in the world, and a lot more Colleges and private labs.

It "died" down because we have medication for it now, extremely good anti-virals that you only need to take 1 pill a day with a life you will liive into old age instead of dying within 2 years from contracting it.
