I don't know why everyone is so upset about SJWs. It's just people trying to change the world for the better, in their opinions anyway. We all do that.

You actually explained why no one likes these people. They stick their nose in other people's business and try to tell them what is best for them. Just like Christians and other religious proselytizers.

I lub u, man!!!!!!

Wow. Obviously you are operating at something of a deficit.

Please...allow me to explain.

Brother Maynard is a reference to James Maynard....lead singer and songwriter of the band Tool.

The quote I put in, was from their song called "Disgustipated".

In that song, which really should have been apparent to anyone, he was using metaphor, parody, and sarcasm.

Much as the vegetarians would say that animals cry and are emotionally sensitive to the idea that they will become our food, James was saying that surely the carrots are crying out as well. That we must give the rabbits (those who eat the carrots) glasses so that they might both see and understand for themselves just what their dietary choices were doing to another living thing.

Now, how did that apply to my sentiment?

Well, allow me to explain that as well.

I am attempting to demonstrate that just as a vegetarian ignoring the fact that they are eating something that was once alive, even growing them for the specific point of being eaten, that the sponsors of the petition seem to be oblivious to the fact that a dog or cat ("pets", as we westerners have deemed them) is just as much food as cattle, swine, and poultry are to westerners.

"Life feeds on Life feeds on Life..." is in reference to what some would regard as the foodchain, or the circle of life, or a necessity....as those who live in that bubble we call "reality" surely see.

As to predicting any outcome, no, I was not. Had I truly predicted an outcome, it would have been that some twit would get their knickers in a wad over something they clearly have no understanding of. Let alone the delivery method of communication.

I was stating my personal opinion (again, this is the RANT forum, remember?) with regards to those who duplicitously hold dear the thought that they are right and others are wrong when it comes to what we eat. Or anything else for that matter.

Now, is there anything else? Have any homework you'd care to get help on?

I rescue cats and dogs. Farm animals (chickens, pigs, etc.) are raised for our food. I've been to Hong Kong, China etc. and seen them selling puppies and kittens for human consumption. It literally ruined my trip. I never want to fo to India, for alot of reasons. Some cultures are a major turnoff like how they treat women and children. I don't think I am better but I do know we Americans are more evolved (or less desperate. I am not a SJW but that doesn't mean I could excuse or approve of unnecessary or just plain uneducated behavior.

So, distinguishing between something cute and cuddly and something not so cute and cuddly as being food...

Is uneducated?

I didn't say cute and cuddly. We are all prone to have opinions according to our culture; and whether you like it or not, some cultures are more evolved, educated and and not in poverty. Make fun, but I have owned many kinds of animals and one of my favorites were our two rats. I really appreciate being an American and most of our values towards animals-knowing still in our culture we kill unnecessarily many animals; and its just plain uneducated, unevolved cruelty. Yes, uneducated and cruel. I don't wear leather, by the way.

People are now eating their own poo. Just Google it, or don't.

As for eating things?

I spent quite a bit of time in China and other places.

The food was different, but good.

All of it.

Just another attempt at raising revenue for the state. Make something that was perfectly legal an acceptable yesterday illegal tomorrow and you have a new revenue stream for the state. Create a new class of criminal---the dog eaters.
And once that camel's nose is in the tent they'll go for the cat-eaters.
Then, when the food shortages move from the south up to the states and people are hunting neglected pets for food as they are in several Latin American countries....they'll have a reason to lock up the people trying to feed their families. 'Round 'em up and put them on reservations....

I think a better name for this "SJW" movement would be Legalists Unite movement. They're not using social pressure to bring about change, they're using political and legal pressure. To wipe out culture, literally thousands of years of cultural rituals. They get to decide the "good" parts of each culture worldwide I suppose.

Many of the dogs that are killed are stolen household pets or are watchdogs of rural families. Allowing the Dog Meat Festival to continue is like endorsing dog theft, which supplies the dog meat industry.
-Op source

People's pets that are stolen now have to die a scared death after being family pets for years. IE not raised for meat such as our cattle in the US which are, for the most part, treated better due to regulations or at least with those factory farms and local farms who listen. Preparation for slaughter of these animals in Yulin, are poorly if not at all regulated.

Let's look at the history of this perceived "cultural ritual"

Sources say that 400 years plus and the festival has only begun(again) recently. The meat is said to ready the body for summer. That isn't rooted in health and science, rather than an isolated tradition under 1,000 years old.

5. Dog meat festivals are not a good image for Yulin nor China The Yulin Lychee Dog Meat Festival itself is, in fact, not a tradition at all. It only started in the 1990s. It exists because of profit and has been linked to economic growth. But bad news has increasingly overshadowed the good. Negative coverage is growing - dog theft, criminal activities, food hygiene issues, and rabies fears - not to mention the division in society between those for and against the festival. Together these have brought significantly more negative publicity to Yulin than economic benefits.

So, is "banning" the festival, going to "wipe out culture"? Not so much. Also, as it's more about money similar to commercialism of US Holidays.

Cultural traditions;

3. Tradition should be part of progress - it shouldn’t hinder it

The progression of civilisation requires culture and tradition to be continuously reviewed. Traditions and customs inconsistent with modern civilisation cannot be maintained. Looking back at history, we see that many inhumane “traditions” - slavery and foot-binding, for example, have been protested and outlawed by society. Their elimination encourages a harmonious and healthy society, and a positive national image, without causing harm to our rich culture. This way we can keep alive the valuable traditions that actually benefit society. “Traditional culture” should not be an excuse for a corruption and cruelty.

Continued...

The killing and eating of cats and dogs is opposed by a growing number of people and governments of many Asian countries have taken measures to stop the practice. In Hong Kong it’s been defined as illegal since 1950. The Philippines launched its Animal Welfare Act in 1998, announcing the slaughtering of cats and dogs for food to be illegal. In 2003, Taiwan saw its Animal Protection Law amended and updated to specifically stop the practice.

Jesus this is a lame attack on SJWs. The daily hobby of the ats emasculated male armchair internet tough guys. Like the jocks from American teen movies pumping fists and bumping chests in the males display for dominance of the pride. Later we will see them pea cocking in an attempt to win attention of the female members of the tribe, with stories of how tough they are and how much they hate liberals

I think SJW should be questioned for their merit since they are behaving sometimes like bullies being a danger to free speech. Often there is a lack of logical thought and a disregard of facts and a push for emotional black mail.

When it comes to eating animals there are several issues to think about even when we have advanced technology to create the meat artificially.

1 When we can create meat artificially without the need of killing is there any golden rule justification for not allowing all artificial meat consumption in different flavors?

2 What will we do with animals that have been killed for other reasons/accident to keep the population of the animals on a healthy level so animals do not starve if there is no natural predator. As an example in Sweden we have wild boar that is increasing in number since they only have humans as predators and if humans do not prey on them they start affecting both people and the balance in nature.

3 What do we do with the domesticated animals for meat, milk, egg production once we change from domesticated meat to artificial meat?

4 How do we handle dogs that have been abandoned and become wild that we cannot reintegrate into a loving family?

We should do as little damage/suffering as possible but sometimes doing nothing is creating a worse problem since humanity already has changed the balance.

I am not expected to know who Brother Maynard is nor lyrics from a Tool song. If you had credited the lyrics properly, at least one would have followed that you were comparing a petition against a festival to a song.

Just because you picked an odd way to present this, doesn't mean that I am 'operating at a defecit'.

Also, the link you used to back up your OP was removed as it is not allowed. So, your OP is actually pretty meaningless.

As long as they're not eating cats, I 'm good with it. Dogs are so gross. They eat their own sh$t. I had a dog that ate its own steaming turds right in front of me, which put me into an existential crisis.... eats #, #s, eats #, #s, eats # unto eternity. Thats why I f$cking hate dogs! They f$ck with my mind man! I resonate with cats, they're chilled out.

Three cheers for all you Bitches!!!

A lot of animals eat their own sh*t and cud.

Yeah, but they don't lick your face afterwards!

I really want to thank you. The interaction I've had with you over this has been good for a laugh.

If you expect everything and anything to be written in a manner that is palatable to you, you are sorely mistaken.

And, you know what? If the link was something that violated the rules here, well... they site is limiting themselves. It was the source of conversation. Source of discourse.

And finally... properly credit the writers of the song? LOL....

I love cats and dogs, I like my cat way more than I like most people but if I was in a country where it was acceptable to eat em and there was nothing else on the menu I wouldn't feel any qualms about it.
