The general consensus amongst South Africans of all races is that beating on a woman is repugnant,vile and cowardly.I don't know about the Muslim community,but i have to say South African Muslims come across as very moderate.Most of them that i've ever encountered have been very friendly.They seem to usually be cheerful and content+happy.There's a Muslim area in the town some miles away,and the Muslim women there wears burkas and hijabs,but they don't seem very oppressed,they drive,they go to the shops with just their kids+ without their husbands and they seem very happy.

One of my daughter's best friends in primary school was a Muslim girl,she and the women in her family did not wear hijabs or burkas.My daughter had some sleepovers at her house,they are fairly "modern" Muslims.The girl told my daughter she could choose whether to wear a headscarf or not.She chose to do so,said it felt more comfy to her than going without.

So i would say while it's in my country not inconceivable that domestic violence takes place in some Muslim households,it is most likely not any more prevalent than in any other religious or ethnic demographic.Some men are always going to beat up on their wives.But South African Muslim women seem for the most part very happy,and mostly enjoys the same level of independence than non-Muslim women.

Well I don't see any modern day Christians calling for the beheading of Islamists, the death of apostates or the stoning of women in the streets for any cause, justified or otherwise....

Christianity before the reformation vs current Islam, maybe....

I have followed. There's been some pretty bad stuff on all sides.

Muslims culture always have and always will promote beating on women, and that's actually quite tame compared to what happens to women in many Islamic countries.

Just a backwards culture stuck in the past.
