Lots of things are possible.

Most folks are somewhat aware of the flight characteristics of blimps.

UFO's don't behave like blimps. Blimps don't behave like UFO's.

That was quite a lot of interesting stories.

Thanks.

I was just proposing another explanation. I might of missed it but I didn't see how the UFO 'behaved'.

I prefer to assume some level of competence and brightness on the part of witnesses--until proven otherwise.

I realize that the custom hereon is to assume that witnesses couldn't possibly be telling the truth for a long list of tiresome "reasons."

Not that you fit that model, but seemingly a majority of posters hereon, do.

Interesting sightings. Thanks for posting BO XIAN.

I was looking at the map around the sightings, and noticed a place that could be the source of the craft sighted.
maps are from USGS and zoomed to target area, because I could not get a zoomed google map with all of the place name labels.)

Now zoomed in to show shaded area:

What is Nap of the Earth? Nap of the Earth, or NOE flying, is flying close to the ground: also known as terrain masking, ground hugging, or flying under the radar.

I can't find any info about this place online, but it could be where the low flying helicopter originated?

Quite plausible.

Therefore what, I don't know but quite plausible.

It is conceivable that TPTB would have assigned whatever copter was nearest.

It is conceivable that both the copter and the craft could have come from a remote government reserve of some sort.

One of the witnesses says that it was near Canada, and also near Portland? I'll have to Google this... Thanks Bo Xiang for finding/sharing this.

There is a Vancouver WASHINGTON as well as a Vancouver, British Columbia. The witness did not say it was near Canada; he said it was near Vancouver (the other one).

I wasn't questioning the level of competence and brightness of the witness. Just saying that something un-identified could be something that's been mis-identified. It's happened to the best of us.

I live within the area pictured in the upper map.
My son was driving through the mountains 5 hours north of my home ,possibly near Salmon creek area, and saw a UFO flying through the forrest. I asked if it looked like a slightly see through projection, He said " No it appeared to be a Machine. I think it was maybe saucer shaped, and not that far away from him. He was with a buddy and they both witnessed it

My father will be 90 this year. He was a Stanford man. He is a brilliant retired genius scientist with many titles. Chemist, Microbiologist, Director of Research for a fortune 500 company, and a medical background as well. He has met with a vice president, and Secretary of Ag at the White House in the 70s at their request.
It the early 60s, when I was consumed with UFO magazines and stories, he wasnt interested or amused at all. He is very logical and unemotional. He told me there are no aliens nor are there any alien ships.
That was 50 years ago.... He has changed his tune. I have seen books by Tom , and others on his desk. He has always believed in God, in fact, ministers sometimes come to him for council, and he sometimes takes their place at their request. He believes now that aliens are the fallen angelic beings. He also has stated that the Smithsonian does hide things from the public, such as bones that do not support Darwins theory.

Great question . . . and in the last 45 or so years, I've never read or heard even an interesting guess about that.

Do you have any guesses about it?

Clearly the oligarchy and the critters are in cahoots toward some END GAME. Now what that game is precisely . . . beyond the global tyrannical world government and one world religion . . . is hard to guess.

I has a guess. Maybe with all the good relations with Cuba it's a giant publicity stunt for cigars made in Cuba. Maybe soon they'll be on sale in the good ol US of A again. Score one for the global economy.

It is fascinating how slavishly some folks seemingly MUST mush the observations into their own constructions on reality.

You could apply your own words above to pretty much all of your own posts/observations!

he saw it at night and only briefly so i think he probably saw a helicopter hauling something in a sling. construction companies use chinooks to move extremely oversized building materials.something being carried in a sling won`t hang straight down below the helicopter.
He didn`t mention anything about seeing any lights which would be unusual for a helicopter flying at night at low altitude in cloudy weather to not have any lights on.He mentioned that it was dark green or dark blue so obviously there was enough light coming from somewhere for him to make out the color.
I`m wondering if there are any large building projects going on in that area that would require the use of a helicopter to haul oversized materials?
EDIT: I found this, there is a company in portland oregon that owns and operates chinooks

Columbia Helicopters, an aircraft manufacturing and operator company based in Aurora, has purchased three Boeing CH-47D Chinook helicopters from the U.S. government. The aircraft will join the company’s fleet of commercial super-heavy-lift helicopters, which includes six Columbia Model 234 Chinooks, the commercial variant of the CH-47, and 14 Columbia Vertol 107-II helicopters.

www.oregonlive.com...
www.colheli.com...

notice that 2 of the things that they use their helicopters for is construction and logging.
I reckon that a bunch of really big trees slung below a helicopter at night might look like a cigar shaped object.

i witnessed a ufo at portland international airport once, it was brief lasting all of 2 seconds, i was passenger in a vehicle driving by the airport when i saw something dart rapidly from ground to clouds straight up, it took 2 seconds for it to get from ground to cloud level out of sight, i was stunned,

couldnt make out much shape, could have been a disc, or a ball, had a very small profile

it originated right from the area of the Portland Air National Guard Base, which is right next to the airport

How fast do you think an F-117 is going when it lands? There's more than eniugh lift for that.

Is it possible that the object was underneath the helicopter?Chinooks are used by British forces to carry recon vehicles(i.e. light armoured vehicles).

Seeing something for a second or two could fool the eyes.Or it could be a blimp.

Wasn't the minimum speed classified? I would guess that meant it could hover. There was a UFO case about someone's car being melted by a "black triangle" hovering directly above them. It was in a book "Strange Energies / Hidden Powers" or "Tales of the Undead and other untold mysteries". Trying to find those books from scholastic book publications.

TRUE. TRUE.

Thanks for the clarification.

My point was that I think it's quite plausible that the witnesses were bright and observant enough to avoid such a mis-identification of a blimp or copter for a UFO.

Thanks much for your personal report.

Interesting. Have either of them made a drawing?

Did they estimate the size?

Much appreciate your narrative.

Would he be willing to answer some questions? I'd love to come up with 10-25 questions for him. But even 8-12 would be great.
