Bernie Sanders blames cervical cancer on lack of orgasms or Mother issues

Mr. Sanders contributed only sporadically. He interviewed a “labor agitator” and an old-time farmer, and he wrote some articles about health, including one in which he cited studies claiming that cancer could be caused by psychological factors such as unresolved hostility toward one’s mother, a tendency to bury aggression beneath a “facade of pleasantness” and having too few orgasms.

This was apparently one of the few jobs he had before his 40th birthday.

Does that seem reasonable to any of you? I'm just interested to see how this will be spun as a positive. My guess is something about how at least Sadness is open to the idea of alternative medicine or something along those lines.

It's interesting to me that a guy with a 4 year degree in Political Science thought he was qualified to diagnose the causes of cervical cancer, especially since according to him he wasn't a very good student.

He has described himself as a mediocre college student because the classroom was "boring and irrelevant," while the community provided his most significant learning.

“Sexual adjustment seemed to be very poor in those with cancer of the cervix,” he wrote, quoting a study in a journal called Psychosomatic Medicine.

Yes, that makes perfect sense.

I'm interested to see what else is dredged up from his past.

Basically, he's like the liberal version of Todd Akin, but since he wants socialism, no one will care.

Maybe he had a ghost writer.

Perhaps this explains the rape fantasy he penned, he just wanted to help victims with cervical cancer!

Wha. . . . . ?

Regardless if he won't the articles or not, stress which is caused by lots of issues has been linked to increased risk in cancer.

Well, it is true, though in the case of cervical cancer, it's pretty straightforward that certain strains of HPV are the primary cause in the vast majority of cases.

Stress hinders the immune system, thus mutations can become more likely to become cancer.

I'm not saying that makes his writings valid, though if this is the worst of his past which can be dredged up, I guess that's a plus. I just don't think laughing at a point which is well-known to be valid strengthens anyone's argument.

Yes, but he blamed a lack of orgasms and a very specific kind of stress.

Had he said there is some evidence to suggest that people undergoing stress have weakened immune systems I wouldn't be laughing. I am going to laugh when Crazy Bernie claims women not having orgasms or past Mother issues causes cervical cancer.

Oh don't get me wrong, I didn't stress that part because it's so ridiculous. He obviously was not qualified to make the statements he did. Just sayin', better to leave the valid component alone, rather than highlight it as evidence of the obvious fail.

Not that I endorse ANY US candidate, I don't live there, but before his 40th would be 36+ years ago. A lot can change in that amount of time.
