Did anyone actually read the resolution for oneself?

I did.

The "article" and the OP headline are completely and laughably misleading.

ETA:

Education should facilitate curiosity, question asking, and critical thought in order to learn.

That's what the resolution says regarding climate change.

The last paragraph eludes to the concept.

They are clever and subtle. ..... and so was your edit after the fact.

Why teach things that are not supported by science?

Because the only reason we talk about 'climate change' is because it's a POLITICAL "ISSUE'.

And that has absolutely NOTHING to do with 'science'.

They get it wrong.

Like the Earth was flat.

The Earth was the center of the universe.

Imagine what they will say a few thousand years from now.

Yes, so we update our current education system according to the current and most accurate information.

This is bad....how?

This is why I'm proud to live here. Real science should be taught in class. Not climate change denial conspiracy theories, not "intelligent" design, etc.

I love this city.

There is of course some real IRONY there.

Those that said something else where ostracized from the scientific community, and branded 'heretics'.

Because of what people ?

POLITICS.

They had that too.

In the 70's, if they had done this, a whole generation would have been taught that the Earth was going to be in another ice age.

So many here are under the impression that the science is settled. That we shouldn't question convention, that we shouldn't think outside the box.

We are teaching children to obey. We aren't teaching them to question.

Why? Because a handful of scientists said something like that?
No. It takes more that than.

Thinking outside the box is fine. But one should first understand what is inside the box. One should understand the science.

For a smart person such as yourself, don't you think it would be better to raise children to question data, and not to simply accept whatever the current government/societal meme is pushing?

Instead of a one-sided approach, don't you think the better "education" would be to encourage debate and challenge both sides of an issue?

Curiosity is a good thing. But global warming is not a meme.

If it's a real science why do they have to ban books that question it? If it's real science why is the solution a tax to fix it, and cheerleaders (NTD/Bill Nye) to sell you on it, while telling you the world will end?

Now, I wanna see the classic hockey stick graph with the fat MS paint line (that covers up the other lines) showing me I'm wrong. Because thats what your supposed to show me

I wish i could give applause's.

Indeed if it's REAL science why is the 'solution' carbon credits( which basically means spend some money so you can pollute more), and TAXES!

Portland Oregon is joining the crusade to silence any and all climate change denying.

The only thing missing is some fire, swastika's,the gestapo.

I wonder how long before those get added.

The brown shirts on the march.

Oh the climate Reich will be glorious to see.

Vote Trump, that'll put an end to its obama insanity!

Ok.
Show me how many scientists in the 70s claimed a concern about global cooling (never mind an "ice age").
Then show me how many scientists in the 70s were concerned about warming caused by CO2.

Use any means at your disposal.

I don't think you guys understand one fundamental thing. Science is Science. Politics is lunacy. Politicians will do whatever they can to make more money. Scientists study actual facts and data. Just because a few politicians want to enact a carbon tax has nothing to with the actual science behind climate science and climate change and global warming.
