So the Washington Redskins are being sued by the Federal Government, I believe, as everyone should know probably. So the Washington Time's, being the
intrepid journalists that they are, finally polled Native Americans on whether they are offended by the name/logo.
The results find that only 8% of Native Americans polled found the name offensive. In fact, nearly twice that number of Caucasians found the name
offensive!
The attorney's of the Washington Redskins are using this poll as proof that the lawsuit is illegitimate, while the prosecutor says that these results
don't matter.
But Suzan Harjo, the lead plaintiff in the first case challenging the team’s trademark protections, dismissed The Post’s findings.
“I just reject the results,” said Harjo, 70, who belongs to the Cheyenne and Hodulgee Muscogee tribes. “I don’t agree with them, and I don’t
agree that this is a valid way of surveying public opinion in Indian Country.”
