So... we go from "freedom of speech" on a private company run website which is there to make money for itself and protect its own interests...

To The Queen....

Not sure if failing argument results in instant switch or trolliing

They also censor full on porn and other stuff from YouTube, and they ALWAYS have. It is just another broadcast media type, all the same rules apply as do with radio & TV.

This is hardly the start of anything.

I also don't want those sorts of topics, opinions and vilification openly promoted. I see YouTube as good a community member and contributor because it is moderated closely.

Quite on topic really as this is the portrayal of said freedom...
As far as you feeling you have won an argument...
I'm sure the Doc will be ready for a standoff later...
And don't take him for some chump...
Or you'll be a Daisy if you do...

I think it's the much bigger picture he is eluding to...
And it's the future of the internet...

I couldn't give a toss, it is not a formal government funded public service and you are free to load your own server space with upload software to provide a platform for bigotry if you wish.
Your government is not stopping you from doing that.

Your argument is weak and lame.
When the government prevent us from creating our own upload services then you will have a decent argument but right now it just sounds like the bleating of a lost lamb on the hillside.

Unlucky, YouTube is the biggest platform out there, but bigot friendly options exist, they just aren't as popular. When the bigot friendly sites get shut down you'll have a point but right now you have nothing.

*Edit*
Oh and curiously the company that owns YouTube provides a well known search engine which will guide you to bigot friendly Internet platforms...how's that for censorship lol

You do know that the Queen doesn't really do anything right? She has never said "no" to government, she is basically our ticket to a day off when she dies.

The reason I have a 'feeling' I have 'won an argument' is because your rebuttal is all over the place and nonsensical. If you are trying to say that the Queen suppresses our right to hate speech then:

1. No, and
2. No

What you don't seem to grasp is that the internet isn't the land of the free. Its code, most of that code is assembled in different ways and is owned by companies trying to make money and protect their image from people who have extreme views. The counter argument your side is using is:

"Youtube is brainwashing/censoring people which is the end of it all! It used to be all about free speech now the shrills have their way"

There is a difference between a company protecting itself by censoring user content posted to its own platform and governments interference. When a company censors beyond its domain then we have problems. NOT on its own site.

Then the the thread should have been about the bigger picture instead of whining that a nasty little racist girl got censored by a business offering a free upload service.

Sheesh, the Queen, now the bigger picture, lol what a mess of a thread to attempt reasoned discussion...amusing though so I may hang around.

Of course you are the one mistaken...Because your perception is off kilter... For my comments on the Queen were in jest to entertain Doc...
Be careful what you say to me...
I might be offended...
lol

Good counter, so you admit to trying to completely derail a topic which is of a serious debate?

Lately there has been a huge push toward censorship from the Liberal Media.

Facebook was caught red handed censoring conservative viewpoints, especially about immigration, to prevent them from trending. Reddit dropped the banhammer on /r/European because of people talking about the immigration crisis and is now censoring posts criticizing Islam all across the board. It's starting to get ridiculous.

Please feel free to point them out. Clearly stated that a company has every right to distance itself from extreme views when they are brought to the attention of said company.

But please feel free to continue to troll and derail.

This is a valid point, and again these platforms/companies try to protect themselves from backlash which could result in being seen in a negative light. For a split second, picture you own a small shop, someone comes in and starts preaching hate and refuses to leave. Do you tell other customers that you do not support the extreme stance of this person and try to ban them from your shop?

Again, all private companies free to do so, as we are free to create our own social media platforms if we wish.
Plenty of easy to install open source server software out there to promote and censor whatever you wish.
Nobody is forced to use Facebook, YouTube etc.

But then again I'm not surprised it eluded you...
You who feels as though you have gained some victory...
So proud of your belief in your thinking...
Yet couldn't even comprehend the premise of this thread...

Until you actually come up with something which isn't just covert insults I will choose to ignore you as yet another troll.

I wish people could understand basic business practices.

But that's what this thread is about. These platforms claim to be an open source for free speech and discussion, then deny the fact that they are blatantly censoring certain viewpoints even after they've been caught doing it.

Understandable, but at the end of the day, much like any country which can be classed as "free", if you were to walk the streets spouting vile hate speech about X Y and Z, can you claim that it is no longer a land of the free when you are arrested for causing distress and preaching.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and yes, debate is healthy. But out right hate is not. Have you spent time on youtube comment sections?

If a product (video in the OP case) is going against a companies policy and could be seen in a bad light then it has to be removed.

It is clearly defined what content is allowed and what is not allowed on Youtube. Free speech is not the same thing as breaking the established rules of usage for any given media without repercussion..

While we continue to have the freedom to create our own bigot friendly Internet platforms any claims of government oppression is the stuff of the twilight zone lol.
The day the government removes that freedom is the day you and the OP may have an argument.

I would censor my own site and I support the right of other more successful businesses to do the same.
Nobody is forcing you to use YouTube or any other platform...start your own, you have that freedom to do so.
