Uuumm Skip, its land "after" the lights, not "before" them.
Last night while landing at Waco,Texas during a training mission a RAAF C27 Spartan blew two tyres on the one side causing it to slew badly on the runway with no injuries although the runway was closed for 18 hours.
The pilot looking dejected after having to shout all the passengers a drink afterward perchance?

One local news source quoted an assistant Waco fire chief as saying the airplane had attempted a landing but may have touched down short of the runway and damaged two tires. Firefighters were dispatched to the incident when it happened but there was no fire and no one was injured.

Ouch. Well, that's part of the point of pilot qualifications. Although they're not supposed to bend the aircraft.
