So for just seven years, the megacorporation will not be allowed to have data caps or usage-based pricing and cannot charge special fees to heavy traffic providers.

Well thank God the internet and television is only going to exist for seven years. Otherwise, in less than a decade, a giant communications monolith would be legally allowed to do whatever it wanted to crush competition.

FCC Chairman Just Gave the Nightmare Charter-Time Warner Cable Merger a Thumbs Up

What ever happened to anti-trust laws?

These mega-mergers need to be halted and reversed.

Oh and thank goodness they can't put data caps for seven years!!! *sarcasm*

I wonder if my $65.00 monthly bill for 2G will come down.

Charter is a joke. There are constant interruptions in service and I have never spoken to anyone with that company that speaks unbroken English. I suspect this new monopoly will only result in worse service with a higher price tag.

I guess I can then go to a McDonalds™ and use their wi-fi/hi-fi.. I hope they don't mind when I hit up TheHun™ or Wanktube™. I'd take My act into the bathroom but with those 4 armed guys standing guard doing "Peter checks" that would be ill advised..

I got it! MickeyD's paid out all that $$$ over hot coffee imagine how much I can steal from them because My "rights" were taken away, I couldn't look at My porn over a McRib™.. I guess if I ordered a HappyMeal that would put Me in the pedo file?

I'll bet that this 'stooge' will be quoted saying that "competition helps pricing" and then back this particular play by saying something akin to "in this particular case the combining of 2 business partners will allow them to better serve (screw) more customers..."

I wonder where He will park His payola? Panama isn't the haven it once was...

I'm thinking they will take root in Delaware

I wonder if since both of their services suck, that with their powers combined, they will open a black hole and suck the whole planet in on itself?

I wonder if this will make the price go down? I'm paying way too much for charter cable and internet. All their sneaky extra fees add up to a lot.

Have you (voluntarily) seen "Dumb & Dumber?"

I think I lost a few brain cells just as collateral damage from being in the same room when our boys insisted on renting it...

Lol, I am supposed to be paying $29.99 or something like that but the actual bill is $65. I'll gladly pay it though, because it is the only reliable high-speed internet around here and I use the Internet and game a lot.

I'm hoping they don't start making ridiculously low data caps in seven years and charging per GB used or something.

Lol, anti-trust? Whaha.

Who needs to own or merge when you can have a "marketing agreement".

It's only anti-trust when it hurts the "greater good", that determination of course is outside your purview.

Go ahead. Ask me what a marketing agreement is. ...

In ten twenty years we'll be a world with maybe 20 SUPER corporations owning everything.

Everyday old companies go out of business and consolidation increases for the chosen.

Sears and Kmart are practically done...Wall Mart is the chosen

Microsoft, of the chosen

Google...of the chosen

Exxon Mobile...of the chosen

Apple...Maybe...of the chosen

Time Warner...of the chosen

Comcast...of the chosen

And some foreign companies and pretty soon they’ll be a few conglomerates who will run the puppet governments

and we'll be what amounts to being slaves

This cant be stopped...its too late

I pay $120/m Internet only but get a static IP block & 300 mbps symmetrical with no caps. Had to call in 4 times to get a tech to unblock port 25, but besides that not complaining. I base my moves on what provider is available. Would not go back to time Warner.

It's early for me and I haven't had enough coffee yet so I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at.
But I have seen the original Dumb and Dumber and Dumb and Dumber To, but not the most recent one.

I was probably being obtuse again.

It was meant as a joke about the question of two companies with poor service canceling that out and making for a quality customer service. The movie Dumb & Dumber makes The Young Ones look like Shakespeare.

Gotcha

today is just my day to understand much of anything really, it is definitely an "air-head" kind of day for me.

I pay $35/month for I think 20 mbps down 1 up, internet only. I'm in a fairly rural area so that's pretty standard. The actual bill would normally be for $50 but I bought my own modem and router so I'm not paying a charge for wifi or modem rental.

My provider is TWC, prior to moving here I had Suddenlink which was basically just a more regionally branded Charter. I'm much happier with TWC. My only complaint is that the people in their office move extremely slowly and if I want to pay my bill in person I need to count on spending an hour in their office standing in line for a 30 second transaction. Fortunately, I usually just use the night drop slot on the building or mail it in. I know TWC is considered one of the most hated corporations in America but putting aside the issue of their local monopoly status I've been pretty happy with them.

Apple and Microsoft is still fighting.

You forgot Disney which had bought Pixar that wasn't that long ago.

The only thing stopping Disney is Warner Bros.

No one can compete with Google.

I believe Walmart take over when I see major players of Grocery stores are done for.

I hated TWC, was with them for 12 yrs. After i moved i went with Verizon FIOS for phone and internet. Here in Cali, Verizon just sold all their landline, internet and FIOS to Frontier Communications, concentrating on wireless. I've heard a lot of bad things about Frontier.

I'm waiting for everything to fall apart and prices to go up.
